I just got the latest Fire Stick and it is roughly 16x better than the previous version.

Would you please expand on the improvements?

much much faster, more intuitive layout, Alexa voice (which is great if you have small kids).

Might have to upgrade if the speed/smoothness has improved.  Other than running slow at times I've enjoyed the fire stick.  Thanks for the info, AJ!

I would recommend spending the money and getting Apple TV, especially if you have an iPhone and/or iPad.

Currently have the fire stick but I'm considering Apple too.  The school district I work at has some older 3rd generation Apple TVs that give us quite a bit of trouble (freezing up, glitchy, etc.).  Have you noticed any of that with the latest generation?

No, not at all.

Friend has gen 3 and it sucks. Mine's a Gen 4, and like fan, no issues.

Just tried streaming SlingTV via Chromecast (old) on Google Fiber gigabit wifi.  It sucked ass.  Probably my Chromecasts fault.

No it's not. It's cute you think so, but SlingTV has atrocious picture quality and garbagey UI. It's not your box, not your internet. It's SlingTV.

Can you define picture quality?

I've had tons of problems with Chromecast, but not that many with SlingTV.  SlingTV is definitely the off-brand bargain crap product of the cord cutting world, but other than the UI the quality is fine if you stream it right.

PS Vue beats the crap out of SlingTV. If you really want to cut, get rid of all of that junk...get Kodi + SmoothStreamsTV and live happily ever after.

Once you try Vue or even shitty DirecTV Now, you'll see how bad the PQ is on Sling.

Alright guys I just reread this whole thread.  I thought I was under contract for another month or something but apparently I am not under contract.  So which service should I get, Sling or Vue?  Can we confirm again that I'll be able to watch my Royals on either?

I was looking and I can triple my internet speed, get sling or vue AND add HBO if I want and still save money.  So it's not a question IF just WHEN I do this.  Thoughts?

My new place will only have comcast for a tv option.  Their website wasn't instantly telling me what I wanted to know, so I figured I'd go to the store yesterday near where I'd be already and have a human work it out.  I was repulsed by the first human w/in a minute and walked out and considered all this cord-cutting stuff for about 15 minutes before I had lunch and a beer and went back to the comcast store.  I ended up walking out again after 10 minutes but went home and pushed through the website and got the answers I needed.  Still will probably need to goochbox for certain live IMPORTANT events.

Pricing out all the different services individually and in every different type of bundle.  I have 2 other phone options and 1 other internet option, and each thing gets split in different ways between me and work, so I had to figure out the best route for all, and also how to apportion things if services that get paid by different people get bundled together.

On the 2nd trip, while the guy was doing whatever tf he was doing forever, I saw a couple pamphlet at the back of the rack on his desk that had all the info in it, so I took it and bounced.  I think they're both pamphlets the state requires they have available.
