Good grief. Why not just take a dump on it before eating it?

I like to cut off a piece of cfs and then take a slice of mashed taters and "butter up" the cfs piece with the taters and then pop that into my mouth.

Also I use a crap load of s&p with my cfs and taters

Same.

But, I think the only CFS I've had that I didn't really enjoy, came in a little too salty, but I could be misremembering. I've always gone easy on the s, lots of p tho.

Little Apple Brewery u guys

The Blind Tiger has a very good one too, if you're ever trapped in Topeka. The cfs is quite good, but I would never take a trip to Topeka just for that.

I consider CFS (and CFC) to be a comfort food. (but that's probably another thread)

It reminds me of growing up. (Mom still makes a very good CFS and CFC with potatoes/gravy).

grizzlys/grizzlies (sp?) in MHK had good CFS iirc. classic old person restaurant vibe. like a non-chain village inn.

I had friends that took me to Grizzlies every year for my birthday for cfs and pie, I miss that.

The absolute best CFS I have ever had was from Texas Star (RIP).

Absolutely, so good. Wasn't as big as Grizzlies but thicker ava amazingly tasty. Texas Star was a Manhattan treasure.

Yes, I miss it. It was one of my favorite places to eat all through college.

You like CFS, but not CFC? How can that be?

Don't knock it till you have tried it.  Though it's the only piece of meat I will eat with A-1.

I have yet to have a CFC where the 2nd C wasn't dry as hell.  Ruins the whole experience.

I don't call it CFC anywhere except this blog. Also, some people use "Country" for the first C (not me).

I have yet to have a CFC where the 2nd C wasn't dry as hell.  Ruins the whole experience.

This is unfortunate. I guess you know lots of people that don't know how to cook FC.

Which one is the kind of chicken you get at Stroud's? That one is good.

CFS is like top 3 things that Kansans use as a benchmark to judge if any certain restaurant is good or not.  The other two things are cost and portion size.  Sometimes CFS is traded out for another fried meat, but often it's CFS.

Yes.

1. Must be homemade, not some frozen crap.

2. Mashed potatoes must be real, not fake.

3. Gravy must be real, not fake.

If veggies, green beans or corn are fine.

I might blow your mind here _FAN but have you ever heard of Strouds in KC?

I'm not a CFS guy but they check all your boxes and throw a cinnamon roll on top!
