I mean, if you're square in the middle of DFW then you have access to almost anything you'd want to do (as long as you're willing to drive at least 30-45 minutes to get there). Not very familiar with Arlington specifically, though. The area around Jerry world is kind of a dump.

Trinity Groves and Bishop Arts are on the west side of Dallas and are pretty cool areas. People seem to like the zoo and stockyards in Ft. Worth. You have two big interstates running almost parallel between Dallas and Fort Worth which I think run about the same (good and bad).

i lived in ARL pretty close to JerryWorld from 09-11.  There wasn't really anything around there, but it's probably built up now. Sherlocks is great people watching.

Grapevine would be a good choice, but it is a hike; However 360 is your friend for the mid-cities and cuts from DFW to Arlington.  I would live in Hurst, Euless, or Bedford, maybe even dt Ft Worth.  Unless you're looking at the Dallas side, then just pick a spot on the map.

Not sure if it's still the case, but keep your out of state tag as long as you can and use the Tollways.  They won't (didn't) bill out of state vehicles.

I live in the mid-cities. For UTA your best bet is Arlington itself or the mid cities probably. Traffic can suck but it's not horrible for a city as large as it is. From the mid cities and Arlington you can be in downtown Dallas or FW in 30 minutes. A lot of stuff to do in both places. Not a sexy place to go visit but a very nice city to live in. Good infrastructure, tons to do, great food everywhere and cheap to live in.

Good 'straunts:

- Mi Dia
- Rodeo Goat
- 18th and Vine (KC BBQ)
- Swiss Pastry Shop
- Bobs steak and chop house

Honestly there are hundreds. Just use Yelp

Neat things to do

- dealey plaza/6th floor museum
- FW stockyards
- FW concerts on the trinity (float in an inner tube on River and pak to low-end bands for free)
- Dallas arboretum
- FW zoo (top tier nationally)
- FW botanical gardens
- Stars games at AAC
- go to dfw founders plaza and watch planes take off (in order to enjoy this you must be a huge dork like me)
- see something at Jerry world just to go inside
- west 7th in FW for bars and to pretend like you're in college with TCU kids
- magnolia st in FW for good food and a few bars too
- deep ellum in Dallas for indie concerts and hipstery stuff
- uptown for wearing affliction shirts and taking advantage of women
- happiest hour for amazing elite patio drinking

Arlington

- honestly it kind of sucks but it's nice too. kinda weird.
- six flags
- stadiums
- ???
- Babes for chicken
- redneck heaven for terrible food, great people watching

Retrain yourself to think of 30-45 minutes as a short drive and you'll be much happier

There is no public transportation in Arlington. If you don't have a car you will die.

Most people that grow up in Kansas, myself included, tend to like FW more since its smaller and more normal, but Dallas is a lot of fun too.

Welcome

Oh and get a toll tag. Will save you 50% on our huge number of toll roads and you can use it to pay for airport parking too.

I'd say probably closer to 200-250.

Arlington sucks but if you're going to UTA, then you want to live there.

Midcities suck.  Traffic from there to Arlington is going to suck for the foreseeable future with all the planned 360 work.

Exurbs suck (Plano, Frisco, any of the other generically named ones too).

Dallas is cool.  Fort Worth is cool.

Learn to love sitting in traffic.  There's been so many people moving here that it sucks no matter where you go.

Yes. Stuck in traffic with all 8 million of them every single day.
