Nothing new....Ksu 2016 BB has Bad D + Bad O stretches that are too Long.
Hey Mr. Negative Posse, if we had 20 minutes of 18-48 that means we had 20 minutes of 53-32.
That's pretty good.
I understand BB is a game of runs. And alot of times runs will happen when you play bad O and either play bad D or give up easier shots because of the poor O.
14-4 type runs happen ( we had 1 to start game). But when you let Tech go off for 48 pts over 30 Poss and then only Ave a measley 0.60 PPP yourself in the same time frame... You are in seriously trouble. At some point the O or the D has to play better in that stretch...so a 17-5 run to tie the game at 28-28, doesn't end up being 59-41 later in the game.
We allowed 31-10 runs to Ku and 24-3 to Isu at home this year, and we never recovered from the big deficit. We mounted a comeback because....BB is a game of runs...but we never took the lead in either game and I never thought we were gonna win.
Sorry for being so negative FAN
but as frustrated as I am, I do hold some hope for next year and 2017-18
I think these stats show two glaring weaknesses this team has: lack of high major depth and a reliable "go to" guy or scorer.
The first problem is exasperated by foul trouble and the loss of Stokes. I fully expected this problem this season, but I think it could have been better managed through more coherent substitution patterns. We should grow out of this some next season with the red shirts and new recruits...I hope.
As to problem #2. We needed Wes or Edwards to be that guy, and I do not think they are physically talented enough to be that person. Hopefully, with some maturity, Brown or Wade or Stokes can be that person on any given day.
I knew this season would be a struggle. I thought it would be worse earlier and better later. The opposite seemed to happen. The lack of effort, at times, concerns me. I think next year has to be a monstrous step forward, or Weber should go.
