Just got home from a Jeff Tweedy show at The Stiefel in Salina. Great show. I can't remember another concert where I laughed as much. Tweedy's crowd-work is second to none I've ever experienced.

On another note, The Stiefel is an amazing little venue, especially for a town like Salina. I saw at least thirty people at the show that I knew from Manhattan. It makes me wonder why The Wareham can't put on similar shows. Hopefully the group that recently acquired The Wareham can make something work.

Went to Big Head Todd and Blues Traveler last night. BHT were great. I was shocked that they were the opener. Blues Traveler was...fine? I'm not a big jam band fan and I guess I didn't know that Blues Traveler was a jam band of sorts. They played their known songs normally and they were actually pretty good, but for the rest they just jammed for 20 minutes and I was like, just rough ridin' play Hook and lets all get the hell out of here!!!

That’s what playing the same 8 songs every day for 20 years will do for you

ha, no kidding. That's better than Blues Traveller playing a cover song that is normally 3 minutes and stretching it out to an hour and a half. John Popper left the stage for like 10 minutes at a time while they just jammed.  They also let their guitar player sing a Tom Petty song and it was the worst thing I've ever heard at a concert.

Ben Harper opened for The Chicks last night. I know this meme is very overused on social media but it's applicable for me with regards to Ben Harper who I previously never even heard of. Dude is a great musician, then I found out he was married to Laura Dern

I saw one concert at the OOD -- It was Toby Keith (who i unironically love).  His opener?  Freaking Blake Shelton!

I'm considering Janelle Monae.  Although her music is fine, I'd be more curious about the show.

Not to brag or anything but it is in fact the best outdoor venue outside of maybe the Hollywood Bowl but this is probably better

A storm in the distance at a Red Rocks concert is a pretty incredible outdoor venue experience.

also i may go to the chicks tomorrow night?

you should do it, they're wonderful

it is really cool hearing vocal harmonies like that, working even in an acoustically shitty arena (t-mobile center).
natalie's voice is crazy and she makes it seem effortless, more so than anyone else i can think of.

other natalie highlights:
- opening line: "welcome to our covid superspreader event"
- after noting that their drummer is from kc (i think?), tried to get the chop going
- "aren't you glad you aren't in florida?" before playing "don't let me die in florida"
- her son was playing electric guitar

the other two Chicks never said anything
the crowd was loud and very into it, but man it was like being trapped in an 18,000 person bachelorette party, in the worst way
