I've lived in 7 different states and none of them celebrate their statehood date like Kansas does, closest is Oklahoma and the land rush date.
NE KS'ers are stunned that this is a thing. That said, I did have a kid in my class who's bday was on ks day. Guess what his middle name was? Yep, it was Kansas.
Yeah, I think we did something once in grade school, but def not a yearly celebration
