Um, hey guys, question.  Someone told me that China has a bunch of "floating factories"--big ships that manufacture goods for the US market--just off our California shore line.  Is this true?

Those are just container ships waiting for dock workers to get off their ass and unload ships.

What exactly is the benefit to China for having this manufacturing setup and who is allowing it to happen?

Shorter lead times.
No regulation of labor.
No environmental regulation (dump crap into ocean).

No one is allowing it to happen; no one has the jurisdiction to stop it.

^ all allegedly according to the conspiracy theorists, of course

I also thought of being able to dump crap in the ocean as a big plus for them.  LOL at no regulation of labor, this is China we're talking about.  However it would take much longer to ship the raw materials there. If they accidentally ran out of a key raw material they'd have to wait 2 weeks for a cargo ship to make it over.

You're an idiot (obviously).  These ships have carrier decks and airplanes can land on them and depart.

Here's one I have raised myself:

Neither political party, at the leadership level, really wants to fix the education system.  It is too easy of a political football for both sides to use to leverage their bases, as well as use as a door to push policy through that impacts other areas of society.  You actually do something to really fix problems, or address the root issues, you risk angering your voting base, or losing that wedge issue through which you squeeze through your "reforms" that have little to do with educating kids.

Of course, I'm just a crazy social studies teacher, so I could be wrong.

That might require actually reading the Bible, and not just the part that says hate gay people.

It's actually a pagan holiday. The birth of Christ was just used to justify its continuance.

Tellytubbies are used to normalize perversion in children and asexualization as acceptable.  This has led to the rise of a perverted distortion of sexual mores in western civilization leading to a conservative revolution in the west and east.   The revolution  manifested itself in the west in talk radio, in the east in radical islam.  Also perverts like Anthony Weiner, Handjob bill, and Obama have risen to power no longer considered to be deviant. Jihadi John when captured said fighters relax {masturbate} to Tellytubbies.  Think of a societal I'll and it can be linked to this satanic show strewn with hidden symbolism.
