Their ignorance of Australian geography is bothersome. rough ridin' Perth is more than 2000 miles from Melbourne. It's like living in Los Angeles and running into someone who lives in Atlanta.

3 years hasn't elapsed, the TV report that Jr. saw mentioned that Sr. was "a missing American on holiday." I don't think anywhere in the world considers three years a holiday, it's a very long overstayed and illegal visa expiration.
They simply messed up the geography of this bigly, which is weird because they actually shot in Australia. He said he was in Perth, the actual town name they use, Kurripa is fictional, like most of the other town names they use on the show. However, this town is in the Northern Territory, we know this because of the terrain, indigenous law enforcement, and the papunya art Sr. mentions when he's trying to charm the lady in the "cultural center." The news report mentions that Kurripa is near Melbourne but nope, not even close, geographically and culturally two different worlds.
