I have really over done it on red meat lately.  Every one of my 5 daily meals involved a large portion of red meat for several weeks.

I'm with cire on this, too. I've grilled kebobs nearly three times a week since March. On the positive side, my wife makes me mix it up with some shish taouk. On the downside, she makes some garlic sauce on the side that can not be healthy.

down seven pounds by basically just drinking light beer and eating better lunches. people who can't lose weight must just be absolutely Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

the physiology of losing weight is simple, sure.

but losing weight and keeping it off requires completely changing your culture of living.

truer words have never been spoken.  this is why things like Weight Watchers really work.  they force the person to make a choice- you can eat whatever you want but if you do, then you have to counteract the eating with an hour on the treadmill, or 2 miles running, etc.   people need to learn to change how they view food and really understand what their relationship with food is.  culture in the US looks at food as a reward and that makes people want more of it and they want to indulge in it.  couple that  mentality with the fact that most american's have no idea what's in the processed food they eat everyday, and it turns into a lethal combination.

the really sad part is, as Fatty pointed out, most people feel like victims when it comes to weight loss but they fail to understand that they own their culture and can decide, if they want to, how they relate with the food options in their environment.

I ran 3 miles on Monday.  I was .1 miles away from my goal of the 5k.  Couldn't make it.  I'm going to try again tonight.  I can't do a fast mile, i'm running a 12 minute mile right now (more like a jog) but it's still exhausting for me.  Once I can do the full 5k i'm going to start shaving time off of it.  This is huge for me, I used to not even be able to run 2 minutes without nearly keeling over.

Once I can get down to a 10 minute mile i'll start working on the 10k.

And I think i'm going to start this: http://hundredpushups.com

Do you listen to music while you run or go without? Usually if I run without music I am terrible, my thoughts get to me and I tell myself Im tired and then don't finish.  :frown:

Gotta go w/ music.  You have to have something to distract you from the pain and exhaustion imo.

I listen to podcasts. I get too bored with just music. FYI, you can download the entire print version of the Economist now.

push ups and sit ups are an excellent way to get into shape.  i'm not a huge fan of jogging so every couple months i'll take a break from my routine at the gym and start doing 3-4 days a week of pu/su's to get ripped back up.
aren't you glad it wasn't you? - g.h.

Could only do 1.5 miles :( Running early in the week always kills my energy for the rest of the week.  Gotta build up to it I s'pose.
