While 4-9 is nothing to write home about,  their defense did show marked improvement this past season: for the first time since 2006 the Buffaloes defense didn't yield 50 points to an opponent and Leavitt had them much better organized in terms of coverage cutting down on explosive plays.

I've been told that the biggest issue handcuffing the situation is Bill's continued uncertainty. He finally publicly announced that he is returning for this upcoming season - but he has yet to convey to anyone (including those in the athletic department) that it will indeed be his final season. From everything I've gathered, BV is wary of the HCIW tag and would only be interested if he was granted the privilege of choosing the majority of the staff and would only be required to serve under Bill for one season before taking the helm.

As it sits right now, I would place the chance of this scenario materializing at around 10-20%.

This makes me very sad and frustrated and angry.

If BV is, indeed, talking to the AD about a HCIW position then Bill has laid out his exit strategy. BV wouldn't waste a breath with this school otherwise. This is obvious BS, not to bother contemplating about, from pvegs and whatever GP loser he's referencing.

Serious talks to bring in BV as HCIW this season, but he wants to pick his own staff.

Says 3 to 4 coaches may retire or move on....the ones you would expect...Miller, Mo, Hayes & possibly 1 more.

Well, Alabama did miss a FG and Alabama scored in two plays after the onside kick, so i'm sure he was daydreaming about mhk.

Using history as your guide no one should be surprised that a Venables (Stoops, Stoops, Leavitt) defense got torched by big plays and/or completely lost guys in the secondary.   It's always been an issue in games like last night and it's just weird because their defenses can be so lights out and then Blam-O somebody is busting free or somebody is running wide open deep.   While I have no real facts to back me up, it is my perception that this happens because BV (Stoops, Stoops, Leavitt) defenses try very hard to match-up personnel every play and sometimes that turns into a cluster.   

It also didn't help that Clemson by the middle of the game was down another key defensive player and was missing two right from the opening kickoff.
