i'm a teeth grinder.  wonder if that could be bad genes too?
Is this a full time job, or do you do it as a sideline.
P.S.  I may need a tooth ground down a bit.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

I'm undergoing apnea evaluation right now - may be causing atrial fibrillation in my case. Interestingly, they did my sleep study at home with a kit that they sent you that you hook up to yourself and then you send the unit back to them for evaluation. I'm currently waiting on the results. Getting a good night's sleep is worth it.

I think both have been posted before but I didn't know about MIR's apnea until he calmly retrieved his gear and started it setting it up in OKC moments after the elevator bank incident, and I found out about Hosie's when his gear was the only thing he packed for his trip to #FattyFest, and by packed I mean put in a plastic grocery bag,

Also something of note: My doctor/specialist has mentioned trying to start me on a segmented sleep schedule. I have had some history with mild insomnia as well, so he thinks that with a combined cpap machine and going through and developing a segmented sleep schedule that all my nighttime sleep issues will be solved. It will be nice to not feel like crap all day every day like I have for the past 7 or 8 years.

The first pass of segmented sleep would be from roughly 9pm to 1am then the second would be 3am to 6am for a total of 7 hours of sleep per night. It's weird to think about, but apparently it really helps people.

So if you are sound asleep at 1am you still have to wake up and do something for 2 hours? Sounds terrible.

Link?  I would guess that it's normal to be awake the few hours before and after sundown, and maybe an hour or two before sunup for a few hours, and then rest/nap during the middle part of the day.  Basically like other animals/predators.

Gotta go with the people that urge the sleep study. The wife bugged me for years to do it because my apnea freaked her out. Finally did it and it was the  best choice I ever made. Found out my apnea was pretty severe (90 episodes). Started using the cpap with the nasal pillows shown earlier. I actually wake up feeling like I got a good nights sleep. That alone was worth it, plus reducing the negative health effects of apnea makes me a big proponent.

Does anyone remember what your costs were for the sleep study and the cpap machine? I want to be prepared when they tell me how much it is...

im pretty sure this would help me too, but the going to bed a 9PM would absolutely kill me.  i dont mind waking up early but there is no way i could ever go to bed at 9PM

When I had it done mine was 100% covered, don't have that insurance anymore. Just call the clinic and they can tell you what your estimated copay would be. You'll have to shop the machine if you need one, they vary wildly by price. You should prepare yourself for perhaps reaching your maximum OOP for durable medical goods. Masks start at $100 OOP, I can't imagine what a machine goes for these days.

The links I read indicate the natural human sleep cycle is based on social constraints.  Nothing biological.  I disregard as unsubstantiated hogwash.

Can not nap as well. I can sleep forever though, that's why I hate 11am kickoffs. Getting to sleep is another story....
