I agree about the lack of productivity with 11 ppl.  I don't think it matters.  The debates are more contests of how to twist questions back to talking points then slamming others on stage than they are about actual issues.

I mean, 20 min online should give you enough info so that you don't need to actually watch it, unless you just like drama and slams.

Right, but my point is that they don't have to be that way. The candidates are all looking for that headline-grabbing one-liner or "slam" because they're each going to get about 8-10 minutes of time tonight out of a three hour debate if they're lucky.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Yeah, if this many people running for office becomes a regular thing for the republicans, they really should start organizing them into pods or something.

Unless of course you are hoping that they finally get Trump to say something meaningful about his plans and policies. I can't seem to find those online anywhere.

Trump says he will unveil his new tax plan in a few weeks. It will be interesting to see how he responds to Jeb's plan. His rhetoric has been all over the place.

I could be wrong, but I'm not going to hold my breath for meaningful plans and policies from Trump. He's running on emotion - not policy. People are enraged about lack of immigration enforcement, our declining American influence in the world (by Obama's "leading from behind" design) and a political establishment that has betrayed them time and again. And this isn't just conservatives who feel this way - not by a long shot.

I think Trump would be a spectacularly terrible (but entertaining) president, but he's your candidate if you want to teach the GOP a lesson or just burn it all down.

True, but the last two elections ended with a "Now we know what we need to do going forward" feeling for the party. And we didn't seem to make any noticeable changes. My response to the last election was that we needed a younger person to step up and prove that it wasn't the party of rich old white men. At the time Rubio was on a lot of people's minds. I'm hoping he shines in the little time he has to speak tonight.

I am not sure how the party would respond to a Trump nomination and loss in the general election. Probably poorly.

I think the republican party's biggest problems are that they villainize working migrants and poor people.

That and their association so strongly with religion and how they really want to god up the country.

I don't think the Republican party would survive a a Trump nomination. Hell, Trump's first act upon receiving the nomination might be to officially rebrand it the Trump Party.

Yeah, that too. Of course, if they didn't associate so much with religion, I'm not sure they would be able to get more than about 30% of the votes, and that might be generous.

That's a better reason than 1/3 of these dumbass republicans voting for a reality TV star who bankrupts companies to avoid paying bills, spends most of his time demeaning women, and has no policy views at all.

I sincerely hope he oversteps himself tonight and finally loses his audience in the debate. But, we all know that it is in CNN's best interest to make Trump look good during the debate.

I'm gonna regret asking this but why is it in CNN's best interest to make Trump look good?

Ratings. If Trump surges in the polls they will have plenty to cover for the next year on his shenanigans alone.

That, and the fact that they want to give the liberal nominee the candidate least likely to win the general.

Goddamn,  yep just as stupid as I thought. How does Donald Trump being in the race help CNN'S ratings? Do you really think Trump voters are watching This is Life with Lisa Ling, Blackfish, and AC360? Don't answer, you'll say something else really rough ridin' dumb.

I should have included during the debate. It was three hours long which means a lot of ad revenue. I heard that ads were selling on the channel for Super Bowl pricing.

I was being a little bit ridiculous. But, when you are a 24 hour news show, it is nice having something to fill in the spaces that you know drive viewers to your channel. IE further ad revenue.
