What happened to the Cult Aggie guy who bought glasses to not seem so stupid?

Sensing that his campaign wasn't going anywhere financial backers started pulling out and he could no longer afford to run a campaign. So, he was the first nominee to drop out of the race.

Good news for fans of Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina (and by extension, America). Turns out that not only did they clearly win the CNN debate, but Americans actually appear to have noticed that they won the CNN debate. (That makes Rubio two for two, by the way, but Carly was at the kiddie table for the first round).

Latest poll by CNN shows a significant surge in support for both candidates, at Trump's expense. Full results here: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2015/images/09/20/rel10a.pdf

Love Carley. If she was black, she would be my dream candidate, but I would vote for her anyway.

fiorina was a horrible ceo.  at some point, if she approaches credibility, people will start to bring that up.  even legitimately good business leaders have struggled to appeal as politicians, its hard to imagine someone that flamed out in business (admittedly, after rising to the top), is going to have much appeal.

I think she was an above average ceo during a below average market. It's not like she drove the stock into the ground, and she took over right before the tech bubble burst. She may have even saved HP from bankruptcy even though she wasn't there to see her strategy succeed.

Carly helped herself out a lot by appearing to know what she was talking about in regards to national defense during the debate. She was specific and used locations and numbers. I have no idea if she was accurate, but nobody called her on it, so it doesn't matter.

she drove for an acquisition that led to a write down and which the current ceo is essentially unwinding in the current split.  share price lagged all competitors and she was dismissed acrimoniously.  you may choose to view her as above average, but the market did not agree.

It still boggles the mind that that small of a sampling only means a variance of 4%. But, if I am to grow and "trust in science" as I have been told be more than a few angry libs I would have to say I am pleased by those poll results.

Cap Gains Tax Cut to 0  :Yuck: :flush:

Would you compromize by phasing in a progressive tax structure for capital gains? If it meant cutting them to zero for, say, the first $20k in cap gains, I'd be ok with gradually increasing them from there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

They're saying he's got a chance!

http://labs.time.com/story/how-marco-rubio-is-winning-the-republican-twitter-primary/

I've seen similar things indicating that Marco, to the extent he's not the first choice, is the overwhelming second choice. This sets up well for him and could lead to a chain reaction of escalating support if he can stay in the race long enough. Looks like his fundraising is doing quite well.

Well, that was timely. Scott Walker is rumored to be leaving the race. http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/09/21/scott-walker-said-to-be-quitting-presidential-race/?_r=0

Guess who Scott Walker supporters' second choice is? Rubio (but I'm not counting out Fiorina getting some of his support).

I liked Walker, BTW. He was the best candidate on paper, but not enough charisma to break through. CNN did him no favors with the talking time at the debate, either.

Walker was tied with Santorum as the worst candidate in the field, and I'm glad he's gone.

could he get a medical redshirt?

Quote from: The Onion
FORT MILL, SC—Subjecting his body to intense and highly dangerous levels of stress, an out-of-control Scott Walker was said to be severely hurt Monday after careening wildly between several different stances on immigration. “The human frame simply isn’t meant to handle the kind of physical strain that Governor Walker imposed on himself by veering so quickly and so recklessly between contradictory viewpoints,” said physician James Soroka, who added that the injuries the candidate suffered after he attempted multiple 180-degree pivots in rapid succession on the issue of birthright citizenship were some of the worst he had ever seen on the campaign trail. “Occasionally you see a candidate try something like this, thinking they’re invincible, but no one can tumble that violently across the political spectrum and walk away unharmed. Sadly, the trauma was so severe that he may never make a full recovery.” At press time, Walker had reportedly been severed in half at the torso while attempting to simultaneously hold two completely divergent positions on economic inequality.
