Snyder confirmed that Ertz would be out for a while, so it's Bazooka Joe's job until he loses it.
Kinda odd it's his job outright after he was listed with an "or" on the depth chart.
He played very well aside from his fumble. Its his job to lose at this point.
I mean, if that's what we consider "very well", it'll be a long season. He definitely was competent and a few breaks away from having a pretty good game, but he was also a few breaks away from being absolutely terrible, considering that's by far the worst team we'll play.
He should have been 12-18 with a couple of TD's if our WR's were Big 12 level.
Joe has Big 12 velocity. He needs to work on reading his blocks a lot better (it feels like he was better last year), and more dedicated reps with the 1's will help him with the receivers going forward.
He's enough to get us to 7 wins. This season hinges on the defense and special teams, and whether or not we can get a run game going. Hubener isn't really going to be the make/break. There isn't enough separation between him and the rest of the QB's to make a compelling argument.
