The coaches haven't really let the QB's throw a lot of slant routes in the past few years because it could lead to an INT.  But they let Jesse throw them.

He has a really, really nice command within 15 yards.  I generally have a high level of confidence on third down that he's going to throw a catchable ball to the right guy beyond the sticks.

If we had a receiver that could go get a jump ball, his YPA would be a hell of a lot higher, and we'd be discussing his bad ass 2000/1000 season.
He throws a lot of bad balls that the receivers bail him out on.  Even more than the good throws that the receivers drop.

but he's white

His name is Sisco and he's shown support for #blacklivesmatter

this makes me much more #teamsisco than anything he did on the field

In both of the awesome stiff-arms Ertz gave this season, the tackler was pursuing at almost the exact same angle as when Ertz blew out his knee during the first play last season.  Knee preservation.  I hope he builds up those triceps during the offseason....it's a bad-ass move and keeps defenders off his knees.

You can throw every stat in the world, but Ertz is an average qb on an average team.

I'd say he is slightly below average.  He is a decent runner and a system QB who has looked decent against really really bad competition.

He's using a special ESPN QBR that factors rushing. He's 9th in the Big 12 in passing efficiency (unless I missed something).

Not saying one is better than the other, just that it's not what most people think when they think "QB Rating".

Overall, Ertz was a serviceable QB this year.  Really, I think the only loss you can pin on him is WVU -- and that's because he couldn't make a lot of the throws the OCs (for some reason) were calling.

He improved a ton over the course of the year, and I have high hopes for his future.  He essentially had Klein's junior year as a sophomore.  Imagine a third year with Klein!  Hope Jesse doesn't become crippled by then.

Side note: in two different games this year, the commentators referred to him by "Zack."  What's up there?  Some nickname?  MIR?

They are dumb announcers.

Zachary Adam Ertz is an American football tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft

it's time to tighten the screws a bit in this thread.  what's the O/U on quarters missed because of injury next season (due to felonious assault by coaching staff and inhumane treatment of players)?

if i said 14 would i be lying?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I could be completely off on this but I feel like early in the year he was running much more power between tackles and now he's running more designed draws or zone read which put him in much better space to avoid contact with defenders.  Seems to have been this way since early conference play.

I imagine year with his better grasp of the passing offense, oline a year better/barnes/warmack and silmon etc he'll see less carries and they won't be between the tackles.

QBR is what our fans liked using when talking about Klein or Sams.

No I agree with you, and ESPN's QBR has been called into question because it didn't give us a clear picture of it. There was some controversy over it when Tebow who only played half of a game, and had a higher QBR than Rodgers, yet the traditional stats shows that Rodgers performed better than Tebow.

Either way, everyone is entitled to their opinions and I can respect that. If Hubener was still the QB instead of Ertz, I honestly feel this would have been another 6-6 team instead of 8-4. Because Ertz has that dimension that Hubener does not, which is using his legs, it forces the defenses to account the QB which KSU did not had that luxury last year (except whenever Kody Cook was playing).
