When using 'they' as a singular pronoun for an agender person, do you use singular verbs?

My friend, Ian, just arrived. They is in the other room.

Calling a TS person "they" is every bit as insulting as "it".

Not if they specifically asked people to use "they" and on their Facebook pronoun preference they chose "they" as their preferred pronoun.

It is their preference for how they would like to be referred.

Do you really think that one person could be used as a symbol to represent the struggles and courage of all transgendered people?

Because that's a real thing that happened, in real life.

let me help you out- caitlyn jenner hasn't said a word about transitioning back to a man.  but even if she had, the idea that her gender identity confusion would be a step backwards for the transgender community to anyone but the likes of the north carolina legislature is really dumb.  most intelligent folk understood the concept of transgenderism prior to caitlyn and will continue to after her.
