If you like crispy (vs. chewy) bacon, this is actually the best way to cook it. The gradual heat does a better job of rendering out more of the fat without burning it. 2nd best way to prepare bacon after putting it in the space heater box.
Had one of these in college and it worked amazingly well.
OMG my mom got me one of those my sophmore year of college when i had a mean streak of making pizza dough... i explained when it takes a few hours to make a good pizza from scratch, saving 10 minutes on not preheating the oven didn't really make sense, and took it back. Felt bad about in hindsight, UniSonntag was just far more blunt than i am now.
