I've loved Narnia since I was like 5, and have read most of his other stuff. And I think it's his best. You should also give his space trilogy a try, I especially like Perelandra (the 2nd of the 3).

I started to read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance last summer but didn't finish, so I think I'll pick it up again (as my cacty library had NONE of your other suggestion). Both involve road trips across the American West, which I've really been drawn to lately for some reason.
