I think maybe I talked about this in my j-burogu thread, but the answer is as follows:
basically they think everything the americans eat is weird and unusual so this isn't any different than any other strange thing. these people are crushing seaweed and natto and raw eggs and a dr suess book full of sea creatures on the daily so a bowl of gray beans and sausage doesn't seem that special.
theres even another Amerikajin that eats #ackier lunches than me. he gets up in the morning and sautees up like two lbs of squid and jalapenos then brings it in and leaves it on his desk in a big tupperware to eat out of periodically throughout the day. its a pretty impressive technique.
