its just light refraction, if you are a believer in science.

i honestly dont remember where i got the other bowl. its cereal bowl sized white ceramic bowl. deeper and narrower than typical american bowls.

that's a good look at the bottom of the bowl. it looks like there's a ring of unpolished ceramic (stoneware? porcelain?) along the outside of the bowl bottom. no offense, but i hate that. i like a nice smooth piece of pottery.

it feels smooth, no roughness or jaggedness. just matte finished instead of glazed glossy.

i know what you are saying though, i just threw out a bunch of stoneware coffee cups that had jagged bottoms that scratched the crap out of natural wood surfaces.

all the fixins from fish tacos for dinner last night, but in a bowl with no 'tortillas

mahi mahi (called dolphin[fish] in the east, dorado in the west)(i actually caught this one)
mexican rice
beans and corn
chipotle lime 'slaw

heat up everything but the slaw in the microwave and then dump the coolslaw on tops

pyrex was sold and bought by a new company a while ago and they've changed their formula- no more borosilicate. they're using pud ass soda lime glass now, which is cheaper but also less heat resistant. the borosilicate manufacturing process was more expensive and more harmful to the environment but it produced a better product.

if you're in the market for borosilicate produced cooking tools, check out containers and more, they've got the hook up.
