oscar decided that just because we had some turnovers and what not, that we needed to slow it down and play slothkestball with this collection of players.

My observo's say putting guys like Jevon Thomas, Nigel and others in a slow pace only pronounces the need for them to make great decisions all the time, and literally have to try and QB a half court offense when they're clearly not capable of doing it.

I don't know, but I'd rather take my chances pushing the ball, up tempo than try and beat anyone with this personnel running a half court offense.

It's those kinds of things that are fireable offenses. It's over coaching and oscar is the king of over coaching.

Justin, Marcus, and Wesley can finish at the rim and would flourish in an uptempo system. But Nooooooooo, lets slow this rough rider down and put our inexperienced pg's in more positions to fail.

his strategy isn't the problem. He failed to recruit talented players. He was just fine with the 2012-13 group because he had good players.

It's funny that he started this year playing faster, but then slowed it down for dumb reasons. Mainly he thought his control would work, but it's failed miserably. Probably the worst failure of his coaching career, which is really saying something.

It's not the first time he's pulled this crap, tho. His first year after losing by a respectful score to KU at Doom while missing a bunch of open threes, he decided in the Big-12 championship game we had to hold the ball deep into the possession against very good defensive team.

I didn't say they were specifically recruited to get up and down the floor, its just that style better suits them as players. Don't make this hard.

Wes, Jevon, Nigel, Justin, Malik would all better do better in a fast paced offense. Wes is so good in transition and when we were playing fast Nigel was much better. Jevon serves virtually no purpose in a half court offense. Nino and Marcus can do either equally well.

Our transition defense is a whole another kind of garbage, however.

The 4-out motion offense seems doomed to failure in games where Gip is going against taller, more skilled bigs (KU, UT, Baylor).

It also seems like there's not nearly enough motion off the ball for a "motion" offense

Simply put, this is oscar's fault for not recruiting players that fit his system better, and now, not adjusting his system to fit his players better. Adapt or die.

LOL. We won 4 top 30 rpi games. It is not a talent issue it is not a strategy issue. It is a mismanaging issue. We have terrible effort and make day 1 mistakes constantly.

This is a top half of the Big 12 and a Tournament team with a better coach. There is enough talent there

Yeah, that's what makes it worse. oscar has coached some good games and the players have played well at times. Then they come back and coach/play terribly. I guess that summarizes oscar's career pretty much.

Don't strategy and managing go hand in hand?

Talent is there, but development definitely is not. Not one player has made a good stride since last season and many have declined severely. That is on the assistant coaches and the guy who hired them and the culture they have set.
