It's becoming increasingly clear that our last hope here is the Texas legislature.  Texas prez Powers and the Pac-10 have attempted to get this through as quickly as possible to avoid the legislature tying things up (see also the Colorado gambit to block out Baylor), but it seems that the legislature has finally woken up and is trying to put the brakes on this thing.  The question is whether Powers will go ahead and push it through and deal with the political fallout later.

I never thought I'd find myself rooting for the Texas legislature.

i still think that there is around a 5% chance that texas just nixes the whole thing and stays with a lot of concessions given by the north schools, etc and stuff so that they can get whatever they want in the future. those orangeblood guys are now all talking in ifs and not whens. still seems possible. def longshot though.
