Texas is always going to make more money than God.  What they need to do is be the kingpin of a (perceived) strong conference.  That's what's missing.

They are the kingpin of a real strong conference.  OSU made a run at the NC last year. KSU does it this year. WVU was perceived to be a national power for the last several years as was TCU. We are doing this with 10 schools and doing well. UT and OU are getting all the TV sets and dollars they want. What they really need is for their conference to be strong so they don't look like a bunch of bullies beating up on cupcakes. They have that.

What does Big 12 expansion give OU and UT that they want or are lacking?  Very little unless it is Notre Dame and maybe Florida State...maybe.

We'd get two protected football games a year against KU and ISU.  For as long as the conference takes this model, that's good for us every year in terms of bowl hopes.

Schedule four cupcakes and get two games against KU and ISU.  Our chances would be pretty high most years.

I would love the 11 team model.

It wouldn't be awful.

We'd get two protected football games a year against KU and ISU.  For as long as the conference takes this model, that's good for us every year in terms of bowl hopes.

I would like it a whole lot more if there were no protected games. I still think 11 teams is the best option for K-State, though.

Hugs could use the going home talking point.

WVU ejected from one conference and did so in a fairly butthurt manner to come to the Big 12.  To even consider ejecting after getting WAXED in conference play would make the entire school look like a huge joke that couldn't compete in a big boy conference. All it would make the ACC look like an even bigger pussy conference.

Barron said he initially thought $50 million seemed high, but he pointed out that there are harsher consequences for leaving a conference such as the Big 12. That league now requires programs to grant their media rights to the conference for 13 years after they leave.


“Start to add up that number,” Barron said. “So the ACC appears to be below what’s sort of becoming the national standard, when you talk about the actual dollars.”

I think you are assuming correctly. But at least "The Dude" is really pro Big 12 expansion. Seems to be mostly for revenge against the ACC for not letting them in.

Don't think anyone else in the conference agrees. WVU may get all butthurt when it doesn't happen, but they don't have any options. Shut up, be happy, and quit getting your asses kicked.
