Which is why it's so stupid for fan bases to talk like they care about how much money their school's athletic department has.  Makes me pull my hair out.  University presidents should care about that stuff.  Athletic Directors should care about that stuff.  Fans shouldn't care at all.  Living vicariously through the monetary success of your favorite sports programs' athletic department is so stupid it makes me want to puke.  Especially when K-State fans do it. 

Got into an argument with Missouri fans last year at Salty Rim after we kicked their ass and they talked about all the money they're going to see in the SEC, and all the glitz and glam of playing in the SEC.  I wanted to grab them by the shoulders and shake them and shout in their faces and say "YOU'RE A COLLEGE KID.  WHY DO YOU CARE?"  Missouri effectively made it impossible for their students to hop in the car on a Saturday morning and make a day trip to an away game and get drunk and party after the game with their friends that go to the other school.  That's so fun.  Sure they can't do that anymore but at least their school's AD has so much more money.  How trivial.

yeah. i mean it's true for all college fans and sports fans in general and stuff though. they all want to be gm's and ad's. just two months ago a bunch of kstate fans were all armchair ad'ing the bball coach situ and were all "well frank is worth like 1.55 which he's currently making, but idk if he's worth 2.0. i wouldn't pay it". i mean what you are saying is different but it's still kind of the same thing and i wanted to just shake the crap out of them much like you wanted to sts out of the mu people.

But that's the game now, and that's why Kansas State and Florida State are probably going to be in one conference while Missouri and Florida are going to be in another.  And all fan bases involved are happy about it.  I mean, rich school administrators have made themselves richer by pissing all over college sports and convinced the fans to root it all on.  That's what happened and that's what is happening.

We, the fans are the victims here, but collectively, we're too stupid and naive to even realize it.

This is the landscape of college athletics and we can either adapt to it or we can lament being left behind.  Thankfully, we now have some real leadership in our conference and some strategic vision moving forward.

I don't feel sorry for the ACC one bit.  Their arrogance and elitist indifference toward football is one of the primary reasons they are in this mess.  Placating the Tobacco Road mafia and ignoring the bell cow is the reason they are here.  Taking Syracuse and Pitt because of their basketball tradition and academic prestige over a football school like West Virginia is the reason they are here.  So, they can take a cue from the Big XII and adapt, chart out a new path, and get stronger.  Or they won't. 

Either way,  the one thing I care about most is our self preservation and doing everything in our power that our school and our league can to maintain long term sustainability.

I agree with this, but it's a reality.  Maw and Paw (the big 8) already got a divorce, and now we're just hoping to get as many presents as we can at christmas time. We have to live with it. 

Nebraska, MU, Colorado () and Aggy are GONE.  Gone.  They mean nothing to us anymore, because there is nothing we can do about the decisions that THEY made.

Yeah, i'm all for geographically based conferences. Road trips to away games are a lot of fun. So is with with people who support rival schools. On the other hand, it is awesome to have a football team in a really good league that makes it all worth caring about.

i have no idea what people mean when they say the acc is dead.  they aren't going to stop playing football.  if anything, a weakened acc will make it easier for one team to rise up (a la tcu, boise), run the table, and then get into the playoffs.

A 4 team playoff they won't be invited to.
