I still think there's a very good chance the SEC goes to 16.

http://www.leatherhelmetblog.com/2011-articles/october/another-wvu-report.html

All the more reason to snatch up teams like Louisville and BYU while they're still available.  Hell, in a game of leverage, woudn't the Big XII gain some pull if it inked BYU and Louisville ASAP?

Well, all of the stuff about Slive being in Morgantown on Monday explains why Twitter was on fire the other night.

Honestly, I think the SEC tells Mizzou to screw off.  It's on ESPN now that the Board of Curators wants the Big Ten, but the SEC will have to do.  If they really have already gone this far down the path with WVU, and I have a feeling they're much farther along than they ever got with Mizzou, the inertia may be too much to turn back.

The SEC, has a big #16 problem.  They can probably find 15 really suitable candidates, but they'd have to poach a much stronger conference to get the schools they want.  I highly doubt any ACC school will bolt at this point.  The SEC won't have interest in Kansas.  It's pretty much WVU or Mizzou, and if they're really this far down the road with the Eers, Mizzou may end up just having a big, "We love the Big 12," presser in a couple of weeks.

I'm assuming you are being contrarian because Norm Stewart not spending money in Kansas has nothing to do with anything relevant.  Did Mizzou lose a valuable revenue stream because he waited to cross the state line to give him players post game sub sandwiches?  The point of this is the Big 12 would be screwing with their highest grossing event if they didn't return the  men's tournament to KC.

I don't understand the point about the Oklahoma and Texas schools thinking the tournament is best in the south.  I don't understand because its obvious that they don't think that way.  They think the baseball tournament works best in OKC, that's why its there, they thought the football championship worked best in Arlington, that's why it was there, they think basketball works best in KC, that's why KC has hosted the most.  KC hosting as much as they have is because the tournament makes the most money there, why can't you people get that?

The next person who mentions Omaha or Denver is getting punched in the face.  There was a reason the tournament was not in either of these places, it wouldn't make a dime.  I can't imagine any circumstance in which the tournament would ever be in Omaha, crap why not Brownsville, TX?

Ooh, check out MakeItRain, everybody!  He has got an attitude and he is mean so he must be very, very important and super-duper smart.

HE WILL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!!!  WATCH OUT!!!

You are just insufferable, dude.  Jesus Christ.

Are we still talking about where they'll play the tournament?

Good God, people.  The AP has a story out there, and now ESPN does too, that says Mizzou will accept the SEC as sloppy seconds, all while wabash909 posts some great stuff about how WVU has already had Slive in town looking at the joint.

Come on, folks.  Eyes on the ball here.  This is the sliver of hope we're looking for.

According to the Leather Helmet Blog, promises have been made, and WVU is already working to leave the Big East.

It explains why there were a ton of WVU twitter feeds blowing up on Monday.

I think it's more than just Slive kicking the tires.

I hope MU gets no offers then returns with lots of demands like: fire Chuck Neinas and start a Big 12 Network with Tier 2.

If MU actually gets no offers, I say we just kick them out and let them join the MAC.

, Mizzou may end up just having a big, "We love the Big 12," presser in a couple of weeks.

That will be simultaneously the most awkward and most hilariously awesome presser ever.

Chip Brown Sources tell Orangebloods.com Big 12 schools were in talks starting last night to grant rights for Tier 1 & 2 TV for closer to 13 yrs.

BITB hinted more than once that it was Mizzou that blew this proposed deal up.  Doesn't really mesh with the going to the SEC for more stability talking point.

It also means an infant with a crayon could draft eh lawsuit against the SEC and/or MU.

Eventually, the SEC (who you will recall was very scared of the lawsuit which might go with ATM leaving) will just get rough ridin' sued.  You can't run around announcing that you are not intentionally interfering with business relations while simultaneously trying to take 2 schools from your 2 neighboring conferences.  The ATM thing was very dicey and they went out of there way to appear like it was all ATM, now they are openly poaching - including a school that had agreed to head up the Big 12 expansion committee - and actually deserve a lawsuit at this point.

I think it's time for BGL to put on her Ken Starr hat.

Chip's full story (read his article) is that there was a proposal in place to sign a grant-of-rights agreement that was closer to 13 years, but that agreement also included no HS content on LHN.  UT said eff that and refused to sign it.  There was no agreement in place that everyone agreed to, then Mizzou backed out.  There have been two options on the table:

1.  6 year grant-of-rights with no Big12 rule against HS content on LHN, which Mizzou refuses to sign.

Mizzou countered with the following:

2. 13 year grant-of-rights with a Big12 rule against HS content on LHN, which UT refuses to sign.

On option 2 you could either look at is Mizzou blowing it up (refusing to sign while allowing UT to show HS content) or UT blowing it up (refusing to sign anything that limits their right to show HS content).  Who blew it up depends on your perspective.

Their media has whipped the fans into a frenzy about the SEC, but I'm not sure what their end game really is.  I don't think the SEC has opened the door for them like DeArmond and some of those other guys have said.

All we ever heard was that Mizzou had an offer from the SEC that was contingent on the Big 12 blowing up.  Well, the Big 12 hasn't blown up.  I don't know where it evolved to the point where Mizzou has a standing offer, regardless.

And if they did have a standing offer, I'm sure today's leaks regarding Mizzou's feelings about the Big Ten over the SEC won't help their cause.

Gotta say, I back Mizzou on this one.  The LHN is a recruiting service funded by ESPN.  That's rough ridin' bullshit.  The 6 year GOR is bullshit too.  If KSU had options, I'd tell UT to eff off too.

I think there's a scenario where you can create both a Big 12 Network for Tier 2 rights and allow things like the LHN to exist.  It's tricky, but I think it can be done.

However, for the sake of inventory, it's going to require a set of core sports and participation by all twelve teams.  So we may have to nut up and start playing softball at some point.

I don't get why Mizzou cares about this so much, ultimately hedging your conference affiliation on this is stupid.  It is will/be an issue for the NCAA.  If UT is allowed to do it, whats to stop anyone else from tying high school content to their network?  What is stopping Alabama from streaming high school content on rolltide.com?
