Yes.  They are essentially like A&M (accept they don’t have an unconditional, conditional offer from the SEC – their offer is good when the big 12 collapses).   Their fan base is rioting right now.  All the meth heads are raising all kinds of hell to senators, administrators…everyone.  There’s rumors that their donors are on board as well.  Couple all of that with the fact that their president would fall over if there was a stiff breeze and you’ve got problems.

Imo, they are gone.  They are going to “try” to make the big 12 work, however they know their “demands” will go unnoticed and/or unfulfilled and they’ll say “we tried” and then work with the SEC.  The big 12 needs to work quickly.   Also, I’d like to see OU put about 60 points up against MU this weekend.

it was hilarious on twitter how he and andy staples and clay travis were all trying to figure out if the 6 year rights thing was actually agreed upon/signed.  they were basically just laughing at the (continued) dysfuntion of the big 12.

We're not certain who will be No. 10 -- but we're going with BYU. As long as you've got Kansas and Texas, you're in decent shape. Then you can almost throw the rest in a hat -- because they may change every year.

3. Kansas State: Love the job Frank Martin has done -- and he's done it in Manhattan freaking Kansas.

In their defense, if we had interest from the SEC, I'd be pretty pissed off if we didnt explore it...thoroughly.  I love the rivalries we have and I'd question our ability to compete in the SEC, but our current conference is a rough ridin' train wreck.

i'm thinking mizzou is leaning to SEC.  i'll be upset not to have them in the league but it's not a league killing move like OU leaving.  so they might not have as much leverage.  replacing mizzou would be difficult but a lot easier than replacing OU (impossible).

If the SEC were looking at KSU, I would be pissed if we went without getting them to take KU and MU with us. This is a great league, and it will be stable if everyone locks up their tv rights.

I always wonder what resources were are missing that other teams have.  I'm not talking about USCs, FSUs with mega money, but compared to Pitt, Miss St, Ill, OrSU, etc

What’s equally important to recognize is that during that same upheaval those same ADs did not vote for equal sharing of Tier 3 media revenue and instead left those rights and revenues to the respective schools. Now why in the world would that be? Obviously it’s not that they just plain forgot that there was a third tier. No, the real reason is that Texas was close to their media rights contract, Texas A&M was researching the Aggie Network, Oklahoma was researching SoonerVision, and there’s something else. Oh yeah, this:

In the previous school year to these discussions, the other 11 Big 12 schools had made $28.5M from their Tier 3 rights while Texas made less than $340K. What does that mean? IT MEANS THAT WHEN TEXAS WAS MAKING LESS THAN MOST OTHER SCHOOLS NONE OF THEM CARED ABOUT SHARING THIRD TIER MEDIA REVENUE. Did Texas ever complain that Jayhawk TV revenue wasn’t being shared? Did Texas ever ask T. Boone why his school wasn’t voluntarily giving up some of that $6M they were making? No, because Texas has always said and continues to say that third tier media revenue belongs to the school. Texas did not whine about how other schools were making more money and not sharing it, instead Texas went to work developing their own third tier distribution concept. Let’s be honest, folks, the other Big 12 schools don’t care about everyone sharing their third tier media revenue. No, they care about Texas sharing Texas’ third tier media revenue. And to that Texas has quite justifiably said “No thank you.”
