Should Texas, TT, OU and OSU go PAC, I think SEC grabs Missouri and then everyone sits tight, waiting on ND. I don't think ND wants to do a damn thing and the 64 isn't going to happen without them.

Auburn and Alabama would have to be in the same pod.

just a little patience yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

The new SEC:

My proposed pods:

Pod 1: Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Arkansas
Pod 2: Texas A&M, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State
Pod 3: Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Pod 4: South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Auburn

You can switch some of those up based on competitive balance if you'd like.

Damn.

That looks so beautiful.

I want to believe so hard.

Problem is, it will be Missouri, KU, and West Virginia.  Or Missouri, KU, and Louisville.  Or Missouri, TCU, West Virginia.  Or every combination that I can dream of that doesn't involve us.

West Virginia is out. Louisville is less attractive than us. TCU is a threat, if it were not having such a small market share in DFW

Crap from the LJWorld

5:09 p.m. Update:

UT regents meeting has wrapped but not so much as a peep coming out of it. According to Kirk Bohls, of the Austin American-Statesman, UT president Bill Powers did not answer questions and ducked reporters by hustling to the elevator.

Bohls' most recent Tweet says: No small point. UT prez Bill Powers has authority to stay in Big 12, but cannot take action on own to change conferences; regents keep that.

Wild stuff. Never seen UT this vulnerable.

Stay tuned...

4:52 p.m. Update:

Here's a link to a short report from The Associated Press that indicates that there have been serious conversations between the Big 12 and the Big East's football schools about merging.

It doesn't get into specifics, but presumably, this merger would be on the table should OU and Texas leave. However, it's possible — and probably likely — that similar conversations have taken place that include the scenario of OU and Texas both staying.

Not a lot here but worth the look.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6993604/big-east-big-12-talking-possible-merger-report-says

If the OU and UT foursome leave the proposed merger would look like this (12): KU, K-State, Missouri, Iowa State, Baylor, Louisville, Cincinnati, West Virginia, UConn, Rutgers, TCU and South Florida.

If the foursome stays, it looks like this (16): OU, Texas, Okie State, Texas Tech, KU, K-State, Missouri, Iowa State, Baylor, Louisville, Cincinnati, West Virginia, UConn, Rutgers, TCU and South Florida.

Stay tuned...

4:46 p.m. Update:

More from Boren, via The Oklahoman's Travis Haney: http://twitter.com/#!/TravHaney

• Boren: "If I had the answer, I would reveal it." Says "sooner rather than later." No specific timetable. I don't think it should be that long."

• Also says talks with (MU chancellor Brady) Deaton, others in B12 been constructive. "two sets of very constructive conversations"

• Gist of Boren's talk: 2 options - Pac-12 or save Big 12. Not happy with Baylor, others, for threatening suit. Not happy with LHN.

Stay tuned...

4:34 p.m. Update:

Pac-12 expansion not a given? That could be the case. Here's a statement from UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero, from UCLA's official site.

I know that the national discussion on conference expansion is dominating the conversation for many of you right now. Rumors are rampant and, as is often the case, not necessarily always on point. Ultimately, any decision to expand the Pac-12 will rest with the various school presidents and chancellors, working hand in hand with their respective athletic administrators and our commissioner.

Expansion just for the sake of expansion is rarely a good thing. Dr. Martin Luther King once said, "We may all have come in different ships, but we are all in the same boat now." Those of us in the same boat, the existing Pac-12 members, need to think long and hard as to the relevancy and value of bringing new members into the boat. Issues of academic compatibility, student-athlete welfare, competitive and financial implications all need to be thought out carefully by the various stakeholders. If further expansion is the right thing to do, then it makes sense to proceed.

Jesus Christ.  Slave ship analogies?  Really?

Interesting note. SEC has to get to 16 to make the A&M move to pay off.

So UT is trying to negotiate some sort of LHN with the Pac 12? Why can't they just restructure it in the Big 12?

With all this talk of slavery, does this hurt or help our unbreakable alliance with KU?

Not having OU around kind of diminishes the value.

why am i the only one w/zero interest in possible conference scenarios even if they are "positive"

My theory are those that are so damned interested by this realignment BS are indirectly fueling it.

Not bad.  I think people should be more pissed.  It just makes me sad that everyone accepts as the rules for engaging with the topic an assumption that the core values driving this are profit and tv markets and that those are acceptable premises for the discussion.  Why are those not disgusting, repulsive premises?  Even if an outright rejection makes you seem naive, doesn't that at all impact the substance of the discussion.

And Mack Brown of all people is one of the few who said anything about the travel, even if he couched it in concern for the family's of the players and not fans, it seems to me that this should be the central issue.

The only reason college football is important is because of fan interest, and yet fans fall immediately in to this sort of sheep like passive engagement with something that they profess to care about?  It burns me up.

I saw you post something like this about 100 pages ago, and I agree. It's unreal that everyone is just going along with this, but then again we're (KSU) one of the only schools that could get royally mumped in the long run so we're the only ones that would give a eff about the morality and stupidity of it all. Sports writers and commentators should be hammering this with a 20 pound sledge, but they seem so caught up in the horse race drama of realignment and compromised by rah, rah attitudes toward the teams they cover.
Nobody is thinking about what will be lost, just the next big thing.

I've been waiting for someone to stand up and say something like this.  Like, it doesn't help when Mike Cheefesasfdasky stands up and basically says "hey, times change, tough sh*t everyone who isn't in power".  Mostly everyone is just scared and the coaches/adminstrators don't want to look like fools when they stand up and give a "mad as hell" rant and then the next day their school leaves.  It's a herd mentality.

What can we do?  :dunno:

Well, not much.  Some suggestions:

1)  Signs
2)  Be extremely mean to A&M fans
3)  call in to BITB and tee him up
4)  prayer circle
5)  bitch about it on here

But really it would mean more if we were fans that had options.  It does come off a little more self-serving and desperate from K-Staters.  I think signs, being mean, BITB and bitching about it on here would do fine.  I mean I'm not going to write some letter to the editor, but I think just expressing displeasure in your everyday activities are normal.

I also think people in power need to get their cages rattled a little more.  Pay Frank was a decent example, I think our threats to hoist a Fire Prince/Snyder sign etc. are all other tangible steps.  I'm not going to any football games.  I mean just do something.
