There's that big Burlington Northern Santa Fe intermodal being built by Gardner. Supposed to be a big stimulus for the region. So I guess Lawrence has that going for it. Maybe KU can hookup with some locomotive research.

Not really. Most of the structural design out there is being done by K-State grads. Maybe some of the KU grads can get away from their McDonalds jobs and get on the clean up crew for some of the contractors out there.

I guess they could research the travel patterns of hobo's and the impact of the intermodal on those patterns.

Yeah, but I think you can say that about nearly everyone in the Midwest though.  I remember my grandfather blamed a KSU loss with some racist comments back in the day.  I won't get into the details, but you know, you can figure it out.
