Gottlieb was tweeting about a pac 18 that included us.  Not sure how I see that working even if it was really being discussed

Pac 12 adds 6 teams, one of which is us.

Not difficult to comprehend.

Does it include isu/baylor/tech/ku?
No.  Not all.

Probably OU, OSU, EMAW, Squawks, Tech and UT.

Probably just be the same as the big 12 and pac 10, only with arizona and arizona state being added to the big 12 "division."

Would be perfect.

This was bantered about last year as well.  And then reality quickly settled in.

Given the alternative, Schulz and Currie should get on their knees and blow Larry Scott for the chance to interview.

Knowing that Texas and Texas legislature would be involved, no way we get the invite over Baylor.  Ken Starr and stuff.

Would be sweet, though.

Larry Scott: Yo, they're telling us that they'll only come with Baylor.

Stanford and Cal (in unison): No, denied.

Scott: Alright, eff the Baptists.  We're going with Kansas State.

Baylor wouldn't have enough legislative pull to go up against UT and Tech. This isn't 1996, Ann Richards isn't in the halls of power anymore. Baylor would just have to get a MWC invite, no way the legislature would tie UT's hands for BU.

Well, if you're going with sixteen, you may as well go with eighteen.  I mean, if you're going to essentially marry two separate conferences, nine in each division means an eight game conference schedule with four non-con games.

Leib has a point, though.  Each Pac team has a travel buddy.  I never really thought of that.  Washington/Washington State, Oregon/Oregon State, Arizona/Arizona State, SC/UCLA, Cal/Stanford, Colorado/Utah, Texas/Tech, OU/OSU, KU/KSU.

I mean, it does follow the model.  Mizzou will go to the SEC or Big Ten if it all goes to Hell anyway.  KU will fight for us over them without a doubt.

Don't forget about Dodds.  The dude is actually pretty EMAW.  And didn't OK mention the other day that Castiglione oddly mentioned us and KU by name as schools they don't want to separate with?

It's conference realignment time: Who would you rather have in your corner, Kenneth Starr or Kirk Schultz?

dude, this is like thinking a stripper likes you after you put a $20 between her tits.  here's the deal:  she doesn't like us.  when the guy sitting next to us flashes a $100 dollar bill, she's going to move on over to him...and then we'll be left, penny-less, hitch hiking our way home in the hopes that our erection lasts long enough so we can go home and get frustrated that we can't even rub one out to internet porn because all we can afford is a 56k modem.

The PAC could do this to force Texas' hand.  If the pac were to take OU, OSU, Tech, KSUcats, and KU it would put big time pressure on Texas to join the PAC.

Force Texas' hand?  Are you rough ridin' serious?  That's like me telling Jessica Alba I'm going to eff Rosanne, Judge Judy, and Drew Carey cause she won't blow me on my terms.  Jessica like UT is the hottest bitch around and knows it.  They'd move on to the next sucker who would break their own leg to get a piece.

Trying to leverage Texas, that's rough ridin' hilarious.

Well, in chatting with a friend, the one legit angle here is the fact that OU and UT may say that they want 18 and not 16 because they don't want to spend all of their time traveling to Corvalis and Pullman for non-revenue sports.  Add two more so they can have a 9 team division that they can save travel costs on.

There is a lot of symmetry to the 18 team model if you go with:

2 Washington
2 Oregon
2 Northern California
2 Southern California
2 Arizona
2 Mountain Time Zone
2 Texas
2 Oklahoma
2 Kansas

I mean this is a batshit crazy theory, but hey, it's not totally crazy.  Gottleib is right that the model is there.

I mean, all you have to do is basically move the Arizona schools to our division and give us Colorado and them Utah.

Washington
Washington State
Oregon
Oregon State
Stanford
Cal
UCLA
USC
Utah

Arizona
Arizona State
Texas
Texas Tech
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Kansas State
Colorado

I mean, really, that's not a completely asinine scenario.  It covers nearly every major university west of the Mississippi.  One can assume that if the Pac gets that aggressive, Mizzou finds a home in the Big Ten or SEC fairly easily.

Damn it, let me have my moment.

the only glimmer of hope I have is that OU now sounds like Texas did a year ago.  And all texas wanted was everyone to give them their network/money.  so maybe ou is trying to get a deal out of espn too.  which might be in espn's best interest, considering that Fox gets way more inventory with the regional networks.  The difference is that then we weren't trying to gain membership...cause nothing says "please join my conference" like OU's president saying "we're about to get the f outta here".

Not at all a glimmer of hope.  Ou just undercut any chance we'd ever have of semming stable enough to pull a good school into our conference.
