Not sure exactly.  There will be some type of penalty, whether it involves not receiving cut of TV contract (20-30 mill) or departure penalty or both.  I don't think they care cause they are looking at the "big picture."

Hopefully OU and MU stay put.  Otherwise kiss Big 12 goodbye and stadium expansion.

Little different.  We are stuck at 9 teams at the moment instead of 10.  NU/CU leaving wasn't terrible.  This could start realignment Armageddon.

True, but the joke is still on them.  SEC teams are going to start raiding Texas for talent now.  They're happier than a puppy with two peters that they can get Texas $$ in a TV deal, AND get into the state and recruit more.  A&M made a pretty bad decision here, if you ask me.  Which you did not.
