I never thought that the WB would bid on network rights.  Could be a savior for the Big XII network rights.  They own the Discovery network which would be great for a new Big XII network.  Also, there is talk that Fox wants another conference much like ESPN has the SEC and ACC.  They pretty much said they are not interested in PAC 12.  There has been bad blood between Fox and the PAC over late-night games, not drawing in network numbers.  Fox told them they are lucky to even be broadcasted at late night.

If the BiG gets ND, who else is left that isn't going to start diluting money?

It is possible for a PAC/B12 merger to put USC/UCLA on an island.  They'll collect big checks while being suffocated regionally.  They'll carry no weight in the BiG, they'll be an afterthought.  A PAC/B12 merger suffocates USC/UCLA. 

I feel the same way about Texas and OU.  They have ceded all of their power for a bigger paycheck.  By 2030 OU fans will be bitching and moaning and Texas boosters will be plotting a way to blow up yet another conference.

I'm actually going to link the podcast, they did 20 of the most substantiative minutes I've heard on this round of realignment. They just talk about the business of these media deals driving all of this. One interesting piece for me was why we, or any other conference, won't want a deal with Apple TV. These guys are very well connected to the TV sources, so their content is very good. They have been talking about a billion dollar Big 10 deal since they started the podcast in the fall. They also discuss why the Pac 10 saying they're starting media negotiations now, is pointless.

I haven't listened to it yet but it would have to be difficult to figure out the time zone thing with those two conferences?  You would then have to figure the travel costs would be a factor?  Makes no sense.

I would think so, that's why sharing the ACC Network makes no sense to me. They don't get into that on the podcast tho

Just read comments from an Athletic article about future realignment, and this one makes sense.                                                                             
“ . . . whatever the Pac-12 is able to cobble together as a counteroffer.” So far it seems as though the counter offer options are no more than

1. PAC leftovers and a couple of Mountain West teams cobbled into a new sub-P5 conference.
2. Or combining the 2 worst media contracts of the PAC and ACC into one really bad media contract with little chance of offering a competitive revenue advantage.
3. Or accepting an offer from a P5 conference like the Big 12.

How are teams ranked on viewership?  This guy:

ranked CFB teams by average viewership for the years 2015-2019.  So, Cincinnati is likely understated, and there are some other wrinkles since 2019, but it seems like a reasonable approach.  Here's the Big 12 and Pac 12 members viewership numbers.  Some of these are a little surprising.  The guy notes that TCU played Ohio State in a game that was watched by 7 million, skewing their average upward.  Anyway:
