I know there are a lot of things that have contributed to our decrease in enrollment, but General Myers was a disaster.

Very fair point, but I do regard BYU as having a different sort of audience or fanbase than Utah.  Or said a different way, Utah + BYU is more than just the state of Utah in a way that is greater than Arizona + Arizona State. 

We'd be fine if we ended up with Arizona and Arizona State, but we'd have serious impact on the top 25 and Championship "worthiness" with Oregon and Washington.  Who cares if the big 10 plucks them from us someday.  Just go grab Arizona and Arizona State then (or whomever)

I had not heard this view before or thought about it like this before, but it makes total sense. I just assumed that you would want an Arizona Arizona State rivalry and a Utah BYU rivalry. But as the Big Ten and SEC have demonstrated, regional rivalries are not a factor in realignment considerations. Thanks Pete

THAT is a lot of inventory, and great rivalries are preserved and restored.

11 in the West, 11 in the East. Play everyone in your division once (10 games) and then rotate through 2 cross division opponents. Division champs play in conference championship game.

I would be all for this as long as they don’t have an equal vote in the decision making process going forward. If they had been running our conference in 2020, we would not of had a football season, even as bad as it was.

Honestly, I always felt like we'd be ok (like, less money, but in a a respectable conference) when all this shakes out, but that was a lot of ignoring the numbers and facts and mostly hoping/wishful thinking. As of today, I genuinely feel good about the future of the B12, for the first time in a long time. I think they need to make more moves and solidify it, and not sit back like the PAC did last summer, cause obviously other pieces can shift things again quickly.

Can't wait for a nu logo either way.

Without Notre Dame and at least one other PAC school the Big 10 move makes no sense.

Scripted/Forced “rivalries” don’t move the needle. 

Missouri is truly the odd man out in the SEC.  I suppose the addition of OUT brings an element of rivalry back. But for MU the rivalries were with KU.  Even though it featured 1000’s of empty seats at the football games. It was fought over middle management level water coolers, in cubicles and in small ranch house with “good bones” neighborhoods in Prairie Village and Roeland Park.  They also had a rivalry with K-State, Iowa State and Nebraska.

The Big 12 can cobble together a tapestry of long time rivals.  When the ACC breaks up they’ll be more opportunity to weave together more long time rivals.

It will make for compelling and desired live TV content.

Also, I think the next official thing we will hear is ND going/not going to Big 10 with more PAC members. I think any other meeting we hear about are just, hey if this happens what would our options be with you guys type discussions.

Maybe but who are they negotiating with given their current state of flux. They said 2 days ago they were looking at expanding. TVs first question in the negotiating would be who are you bringing in.
