That would be huge if true, but I just don't see how joining the Big 12 is in their best interest. It doesn't make sense to me on the surface. Culturally I think the Big 12 is probably a better fit for them, but that's it.

There's a lot more competition here it seems among cable and dish providers, with more exclusive channels on each from which I hear people complaining about not being able to see sports that should be very watchable.  Like a bunch of Portland can't see Blazers games or something.  There was also something a month or so ago about the big news that some cable provider switched something so that now the Pac 12 Network would be in HD.

There is no way Jake Trotter is right about that. I think the Pac 12 Network distributed about $1 million to each school. 

K-StateHD.tv is $10/mo per subscriber... To get $1 million of gross revenue (disregarding any production costs, etc), KStateHD would need a minimum of 8,300 year-round subscribers. $2 million revenue means at least 16,600 subscribers, again disregarding any costs. We don't come anywhere close to that with our one game per year online streaming service. Once you start factoring in expenses to get a net income instead of gross revenue, the number of required subscribers skyrockets.

Remember when ESPN killed the Big East and sheltered the ACC during the previous round of this stuff? Fox certainly has the power to cook something up between the PAC and B12 being they are the primary rights holders for both conferences. Also bear in mind that merging the conferences or just poaching a large part of the PAC may kill two birds with a single stone. The footprint of this nu conference expands in area and population solving the distribution issue of the PAC 12 network, and the PAC 12 already has a network solving the issue of the Big 12. The Big 12 taking the PAC 12 Network also allows a conference network and UT can keep the LHN because they only have 3rd tier rights to their home games, which means that UT would still appear, a whole lot, on the new BIG PAC NETWORK or The BPN.

Enough to reach out to individual schools to gauge interest in expanding west and support for a fight for grant of rights. Fox Sports is said to be in favor. They believe they can make more money on FS Arizona and will be able to renegotiate the PAC Network contract. Luckily, the PAC GOR is about a strong as ours. Sure it exists, but more as gentleman's agreement than a binding contract with actual teeth.

Ok, it got a little muddied there. So, there's enough interest from Arizona schools that the B12 is contemplating fighting the PAC's GOR? So basically the Arizona schools want this, the B12 wants this, and FOX wants this. The only roadblock is the GOR?

I agree.  It's encouraging.  First time I have doubted our theory that Bowlsby is a rough ridin' stuffed shirt check casher.

I hope we consider going for the gold (Olympic season, so we have to say this) and landing several PAC teams...my preference would be take as many as we can get.
