Just FYI, if a school announces an intention to leave the conference, they don't get a vote on conference matters. This includes the vote on whether to dissolve. So if the south schools had left for the Pac10, the remaining 4 north schools would be the only voting members left. They would have not voted to dissolve (keep the BCS auto bid, brand name etc) and would have collected liquidated damages $$ from 8 schools (around $80M or more split 4 ways).

Really wow!  I didn't know Notre Dame went to the Big 10, and Texas, OU, and OSU went to the Pac 10, and A&M had their choice of the Pac 10 and the SEC.  Thanks for letting me know.  Where the Hell have you been?  This whole thing is about rumors of people asking the question they have no idea what the answer is going to be.  Lots and lots of stupid and really wrong rumors.

I'm thinking of starting a clandestine conference that bases revenue sharing on embezzled funds.  As a member, K-State can use this as a hedge against conference realignment.  What other schools should I invite?  I was thinking about inviting the University of Phoenix since they have more money than they know what to do with, in case they decide to field athletic teams (aside from the Arizona Cardinals, of course).

If no other schools came forward to replace those that left, then yes, that would be a problem in having a 4 team league. In this "hypothetical", the ruling from not-so-hypothetical lawyers involved indicated that since there was an understanding that other schools would be replacing those that left, the Big 12 would continue and not be dissolved - thus resulting in straight cash, homey.
