God, what a great North / West division of KSU, KU, ISU, CSU, BYU, and Tech.  Sounds like an eastern division of the mountain west. The Big12 desperately needs national brand recognition and BYU would give that.  I would actually be OK with a western expansion that also brought in CSU.  They've committed to a new $220 million on campus stadium on par with Baylor which is also relevant.

There is no reason. And when it goes to 8 teams in the playoff, we'll be in a great spot. A better chance to get 2 teams in with our setup, although i do think it's harder to get 1 team in as it is now.

It might be 10 to 15 years, but there's not enough inclusivity with 4 and a butt ton more money at 8. Eight will come and benefit the Big12 in a huge way.

I'm not in favor of a desperation grab, but the Big 12 rightly should be at least looking at options for expansion.  There is no guarantee the conference will get as lucrative a deal relative to other conferences when it comes time to renew.

I have absolutely no idea whether or not this is true, but I feel like Big 12 was one of the more recent conferences to renegotiate its TV deal, which may be a reason it's done so well revenue wise.

@slmandel: SEC commissioner Greg Sankey just said he will not support ACC/big 12 title game deregulation as originally proposed. Vote is next week.

Agreed.  I am convinced that Bowlsby is an empty suit.  Maybe I am wrong, but have seen nothing to convince me that I am wrong.

This is very easy to solve so the other P5 conferences will accept.  Just have two 5 team divisions.  Still have the 10 team round robin, but the teams with the best division records will play each other in the CCG.  Problem solved.

I agreed with you on this.  But after more reading, the original proposal was complete deregulation based on the philosophical idea that it should be fully up to the conferences to decide how to name their own champ.  That's why the ACC always supported it.  There was always a concern of an unintended consequence of the ACC coming up with something crazy 3-5 years down the road then other conferences would have to re-create legislation.
