Complicated preliminary offers with lots of ifs is not something I would be comfortable with if it was us. I wonder how much appetite the Presidents have for this type of deal.

I can't believe any of them are actually OK with it but need time to digest the possibilities and likelihood of hitting those incentives.

I saw that the subs tiers were rumored to be at 1mil 5mil 10mil etc. There's literally no way they're ever reaching 5 million subs, even if was cumulative over a 7 year deal. Big 12 wouldn't either, I'd wonder if any single college sports conference could.

Yes, the tern "linear" refers to a broadcast on traditional television.

If this is an Apple driven deal, I would assume they would have a similar model as they have with MLS. They'll have all games exclusively and they'll have a television partner who will simulcast one or two games a week. If they do this, the partner will not be anyone with their own streaming service, so the most likely linear partner with this model are the Fox networks or the CW. If it is the Pac 12 Network that's only because they can't find another partner. Pac 12 Network should be relegated to essentially 3rd tier rights and reruns.

It doesn't seem like they have the juice and the only option I would imagine to keep them alive is a merger, which at this point would be the potentially teetering ACC, as it seems if true FSU and Clemson are willing to take a short term hit for long term gains

I'll always wonder if the Big 12 purposely gave Colorado a deadline after the Mountain West exit fee increased in order to make it more difficult for the PAC to recover, potentially increasing its chances of taking additional PAC schools. That would just be insanely calculating.

I have doubts the SEC and big 10 are going to let us hunt alone.

But we're the ones with the money and stability. If you were one of the top remaining schools of the ACC or PAC, would you prefer to try some merger and hope the money works or go to a place with everything already in place?

A merger might work, but patience is difficult when the ice under your feet is cracking.

Have any more details come out about the apple deal that was presented to the remaining PAC members?  From what I heard it was like 15M in guaranteed money and then basically commission after that based on how many subs to the Apple TV PAC deal a school was directly responsible for.
