I assume you are talking about the katz playing in the Rose Bowl bowl game because you could of gone to the UCLA game in 2010. I went and it was very MEH.

The background ambiance around the stadium is nice and its picturesque but the actual stadium felt like a giant high school stadium especially with only 40k people in a 90k stadium.

I think its ridiculous to want K-State in the "Rose Bowl" over a Natty. Do you just really like parades or something?

I've watched college football for almost 50 damn years. Playing in the Rose Bowl is absolutely no where close to playing UCLA in September. I mean it's fine if you don't view the Rose Bowl differently than you do the Orange Bowl, I sure as hell don't.

I'm way more excited about the Sugar Bowl this year than I would be about going to the Rose Bowl to play some Pac school.

Rose Bowl CAN stop us from getting a playoff before 2026. They have to agree to redo their contract in order for the playoff to start in 2024.

Now, the CFP could say that they will refuse to include the Rose bowl in 2026 unless the Rose Bowl helps get things done for 2024. They probably have threatened this already, and personally I hope they follow through on it if we don’t get a 2024 playoff.

That's exactly what's happening. The CFP wants to work with the Rose Bowl and they need the Rose Bowl but they aren't going to just not grab half a billion dollars because the Rose Bowl are dragging their feet.

So if this had been in place this year on Saturday:

- A win and we are in the playoffs and likely hosting a first-round game (would need to move up to #8)
- A win and some help (USC bad loss and maybe a Clemson loss) and we might have a first-round bye
- A close loss we hope and pray not to drop below 11
- Not a close loss and we end up in Alamo Bowl probably?

The flip side to this is TCU would not have to worry about at all being screwed out of the playoff, they'd just be playing for a bye

Also, once again imagine just beating Tulane and/or Texas in this scenario, we'd probably be in win or lose at that point

Or more realistically TCU and Tulane, both teams we pretty likely would have beat with a healthy Howard playing the full game. It’s a bummer but pretty much every team on the outside looking in has a similar story.
