LOL, just saw a stat that this means that the Big 12 will have done two new TV deals before the ACC gets to go to market again, with their absurd contract length.

We are the ACC, stable but poor!

I’m thinking it stabilizes us long enough that we should be able to complete all the facility upgrades needed in the next 10 years, which is huge.

Who the hell knows what the college landscape will look like around 2030, but we should be in a damn good place.

Big 2 will have left us in the dust by then but at least we will be the first place of the losers.

The total annual distributions will surpass $50 million per school. 

At some point the TV executives are going to tell the Big 2 that expansion doesn’t bring anything but dilution of the brand and they’re not going to pay anymore money.  There’s a couple of gems left and that it’ll be it IMO.

If certain powers that be or will be don’t put the kibosh on college athletics and it’s over the top corporatism in the next 10 years. Then they’ll still be at least 4 power conferences in 2035.

Kstate should really have a wrestling program but I understand why we dont, funnel all that money into the sports that make money and keep the rest at the bare minimum. Would love for some super rich booster to basically fund it out of pocket tho.

The phrasing is fine but third tier rights of the schools other than UT and OU have already been gone, that came with what's the defacto Big 12 Network, Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Even with OU, the only differentiator they had was they worked out a deal to have one PPV football game a year, otherwise they've been schlubbing with us too. crap, they're on ESPN+ this week.

Are there bars in Seattle that don't get ESPNU? That's on the basic tier for Dish Network and DirecTV. With DirecTV's NFL deal, I'm shocked that any bar with TVs would bother with anything else.

We'll still have games on ESPN+, I imagine all conferences will have some streaming games. Fox doesn't have a streaming platform but the Big 10 are actively looking for a streaming partner.

There is commercial ESPN plus subscriptions.  Johnny’s (for example) in OP has it or they’re just breaking the rules. But judging by the way they dialed it up on a bunch of TV’s from an IPad or similar it appears they have the commercial subscription.

This is a good point that I hadn’t considered. Aren’t we at the minimum required for Title 9 basically?  Won’t get us to where the Big 2 are but the gap may not be as wide as I thought.

We are at the minimum for NCAA Div 1 qualification. Title 9 doesn't look at the number of teams, it looks at the number of individual opportunities for an athlete.

I’m curious how much ABC/ESPN will use the 2:30 ABC slot for SEC or if most SEC big games get pushed to prime time.  That will have a big impact on our kick times and how we get scheduled around the SEC with ABC/ESPN.

Calling the non revenue sports bottomless money pits is not at all accurate, particularly in the context of having more of them puts your athletic department at a disadvantage. These sports generally have much lower scholarship thresholds than you would think, they share training facilities, and the coaches generally make salaries in the 5 figures. Field hockey players aren't drawing anything close to a full scholarship. crap most track and cross country athletes aren't pulling close to full athletic scholarships.
