The PAC is really in terrible shape.

-Consistently the lowest average attendance for football among P5 conferences

-The worst conference media payout and revenue share among P5

-2 athletic departments that should file for bankruptcy if they were structured like K-State Athletics Inc. Cal and Wazzu. Cal’s Athletic debt is unsustainable at the current trajectory. Their athletic department annual operational deficit is calculated in the tens of millions. Wazzu, not much better. That stadium reno Cal did is killing them. I get tradition but they bankrupted themselves trying to preserve their stadium. Which is nearly empty most games

-ASU facing major infractions because of direct staff involvement in illegal benefits

-UCLA plays in a decrepit stadium miles off campus and no one cares. Pauley Pavilion is half full most games

-Arizona basketball facing sanctions

-In 2019 you had to go to 23rd on the football attendance list before you got to a PAC school

-Out of the CFBPO hunt most years

-USC with yet another coaching dilemma on the near horizon

There’s no way they’re going to keep up without some substantial moves.

I have additional theories where I see this headed and that includes K-State and many other schools of which many are well known under a new sanctioning body away from NFL Lite. That’s for another time.

Some money is better than no money

Maybe I am being argumentative because this all sucks and making me cranky. Buy based on the language in the bylaws in that link, I don't see a reason to negotiate anything lower than full GOR shares and from seeking extra damages. I think some of the language in the remaining 8 schools statements (i.e. OSU) seem to be angling that way.

The conf should start by hiring a really good lawyer that is also an A&M fan.

They will fight it out in court to pay as little as possible. I suppose only time will tell how much they are forced to pay. The TV deals very well could be litigated as well with the 2 teams that move the needle now gone. I agree that the remaining 8 should try to extract as much as they can from OU and Texas but don’t think they will get anywhere near a full payment.

Agree w/ Dax on the Big PAC stuff. It’s the best realistic long play for most involved. Team up w/ Fox and push western fball as it’s own big deal.

Bukaty was unhinged this morning. He finally was like “you know what fine. We’ll go to the Big Ten or the ACC and everything will be fine” at which point Jeff Chadiha and Gabe DeArmond informed him that there’s no evidence either of those conferences have any interest in expanding. Thought we were gonna hear him cry again.

Give me one reason why the PAC would take KSU, OSU, ISU, and NOT Tech. I can see the case being made for KU with them wanting to be in the big 10 instead and their football program a dumpster fire, but Tech offers that pipeline in to Texas and has a solid following in the revenue sports.
