Arkansas has a better chance of making the playoffs (or New Year's Bowl) in the SEC.  They would be fools to jump ship.

With the Big 12 as a round robin league, that's true.

Even in a division based league it's true.

Not when the playoffs take every conference champion from a power league (8 teams total). Even if the sec got two in every year, Arkansas would rarely if ever be one of them. For reference, the big 12 would have easily had two last year in an 8 team playoff. Probably would at least half the time.

What do you consider "a long time"? I think an 8 team playoff will happen within a decade. That's not long at all imo.

The amount of sense it makes (or does not make) and the amount of interest Arkansas would have (or not have) are not on the same plane of discussion. I don't know what to tell you if you can't wrap your head around that.

To get its bowl games Ark (2001-2011) needed (on average) a 0.61 conference win % , KSU (1993-2013) needed 0.78.  Arkansas got a (at worst) comparable bowl line up to us with more than 1 fewer conference wins.

I'm asking about your memory. I lived there, and despite wall to wall coverage of the Hogs don't recall an instance when they sniffed a national title game. Because they're seen as at least one tier below Bama, Auburn, and LSU, I don't think they'll ever have a better path to real hardware in the SEC as they would in the Big 12.
