Also the sunset I was watching before I noticed the leaking pivot was pretty subpar.

do you have a dirt bike to ride around on out there?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I brought a mini bike out here a couple of years ago but its currently not operational due to the chain being stuck. It was a POS and the chain would always come off the sprocket(?!?) when you were the furthest away from the house.

Stinky kitty and regular kitties

Went out around 10 to see if the stinky kitty was still around and yup, still there about the same spot as in the original picture.

Planted 30 acres of corn today and worked out kinks with the new 12 row machine.  Got a pic of the carcinogenic seed corn for SD.

Flint Hills pasture burned on Friday. Talk about scorched earth.  Best burn I can recall. Lost a corner post, but it happens.  Dropped off wire and posts for maintenance post-burn.

I might have asked this at some point but at what location in KS do they stop burning prairies? According to my dad nobody out by the cat ranch in Colby burns fields because it's too dry out there and I've never seen anyone do it so I'll just believe him on that.

When I was driving out to the cat ranch last week there was a ton of smoke around Russell so maybe that is the western edge where you can still burn?

Looks like a wilted WIHA sign stapled to the curvy homemade post in picture two showing which side was WIHA and which side was private?

Our pasture has been in the WIHA program for quite a few years.  That picture was from the road looking in at the pasture.

This is his chance to run the Flint Hills and not get his underside wet!

"They are from a sturdy bloodline" is a phrase straight from the cat rancher's mouth. Love it.

Give me the inside scoop, anything worth hunting in there? Also is it listed in the WIFA fishing atlas as well? If so I might go visit it sometime in the next couple of weeks and catch some certified Tom lunkers.

Fishing is decent here.  I was never  a hunter, but bird habitat should be ideal.

CRP buffers torched to comply with the contract.  Evidence the beavers are still on the creek.

I guess my folks have been doing some small-scale burns -- keeping the Smoky Hills smoky -- this spring. I'm hoping to go view the results soon.
