Tom, that's a large sweet corn patch.  Does your neighbor sell to a store or farmer's market?

When I was a kid I put up a sign on the road for fresh corn.  I sold it by the gunny sacks.  I would let them pick it.  Only thing, I didn't tell them it was field corn after the first six outside rows of the crop.  My dad would put a bag of sweet corn seed in the planter and planted it first, then would put field corn seed for the rest of the crop.  Funny thing is I never had any complaints.

we never planted sweet corn in my entire life. I think that's a hobby farm activity like 4H and raising pigs/sheep.

My dad felt the same way.  The only reason he would plant a bag of seed was due to my mom wanting to freeze corn and didn't have enough room in her garden for corn.  Of course a bag of seed made for way more corn than we could put up.

Sweet corn went in the planter box, and field corn on top... first round was sweet corn for a 100 ft plus or minus.  Blanched and filled some quart containers for freezing.

Tom, that's how we would freeze corn.  Cobs take up to much room in the freezer.  Much tastier than canned corn.

What is field corn?  Is it just garbage corn that humans shouldn't be eating?

Interesting article Memphis.   So its a competition between growing meat in a lab vs being able to drive all boy beef herds and all girl pigs & chickens.

It's bigger and starchier, so not as sweet.  Also, what Rusty said.

Here is a live action shot of it getting fed. My dad said he switched from half and half to whole milk "because her belly was getting big". He also gives it some egg yolk every couple of days "to provide trace minerals"
