Wow guyz, is lil Tasmo a great story or what? Runt of the litter just turned 2 weeks old today and opened her/his eyes for the first time.

Apparently lil lil(aka farm kitty) has taken a liking to Tasmo.

Quote
Opened eyes today - first time.  One half open, other maybe a quarter open.  Two week birthday today at 10 am.  Farm Kitty has been cleaning Tasmos, being a nanny.  Today she hopped in the bed box so left them in the royal suite.  She mother Tasmos.

Here is the "bedbox" aka a box filled with towels that Tasmo buries itself in when not eating.

My dad showed me how to make a kitty diaper as well. Every time my dad feeds tasmo with the eye dropper (like every 5 hours?) he wraps her in a paper towel and then puts a regular towel around it, apparently kittens are just like babies and crap all over right after they eat.

He recently learned this through experience.

Nothing to see here.  Your standard grain bin.  Second steel door, finished inside became where we stored tools, parts, supplies, etc.  Even had a trap door with steps and an attic.  Dad had it wired for AC he was going to sleep in this during planting/ harvest instead of driving back into town.

Are there 2 houses in the homestead/building's area? Clearly a house just to the right of the V but it also looks like there is another smaller house under the V as well.

There are two houses. My great grandmother lived in the small house until she died in the mid-80s.  After that, my grandmother took it over for her sewing and canning. My dad just uses it for storage now.  There's no bathroom in the small house.

Still going down random rabbit holes and found the 1933/34 Ag report for Thomas County. All sorts of random information on there but my favorite is the tally of sheep killed by dogs and sheep killed by wolves.

Kind of shocked by how many sheep there were back then. The most recent report shows a total of 89 sheep in Thomas county compared to 10,000 back in 1934...Guess they were all replaced by cattle since there are 76k cattle in Thomas county now compared to 23k back in 1934.

No.  When it was built there was a single outhouse for the two houses.  They put a bathroom in the main house in the 40s but never put one in the other house.  My great grandmother had a commode chair for late night emergencies.
