Badgers will mess up a field bigly. I’ve slammed into a badger mound a couple times and wrecked a swather header.

There was never a sound beside the wood but one,
And that was me wrecking a swather header into a badger mound a couple times.
What were those badgers doing there? I knew not well myself.

So I'm hanging out with Milo on the hilltop watching the sunset and just kind of spacing out. I catch some movement from the corner of my eye and see this chuncky thing wiggling around fence line.

My first thought was, "We have cats again at the cat ranch!" but then I saw the white stripe on its face as it came out of the fence line and was like, aw eff.

Milo was asleep next to me when I saw it and it was walking right towards me without a care in the world. I made some noise when I first saw it, we made eye contact, the badger kind of arched its back like a cat would then slowly continued right towards me. Nothing aggressive just no fucks given, casually sauntering in our direction.

I woke up Milo who was scared as crap of the badger and we started walking back to the house. I even left my folding chair out there because I didn't want to mess with that badger.

seems you have discovered why the cat ranch no longer has cats  :dunno:

I remember when we had the The Chamber on the Cats FB team.  He wasn't afraid of anything, either.

Thank you, beef, for turning real roughage into real protein. And thank you for allowing yourself to be raised for slaughter in sometimes inhumane conditions before having your body flayed and dismembered. Though your delicious, seared booty will soon disappear from my plate, your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Guys, I kind of inadvertently helped in a cattle roundup today in WY.

So I'm driving on this road where one side is mountains and the other side is the North Platte river and stopped at a pull off to check out the river. The bank was too steep but as I was coming back to my car I noticed a cowboy and 3 dogs trying to herd some cattle on a very steep mountain side.

As everyone knows cows are dumb as eff so they just kept going higher as the dogs tried to herd them and eventually one slipped and slid down the mountain side a bit then just rough ridin' laid there on its side like a stupid cow.

At this point the cowboys horse said eff this crap I'm out so the cowboy went down the mountain a little and got off the horse. The horse took off onto the road while the cowboy and the dogs climbed up to check on the cow that had fallen.

As soon as they were next to it the stupid cow got up and the dogs started trying to herd it but it just ran to the edge of a cliff.

The horse takes off down the road where the other cowboy has most of the cattle herded next to the road. 2nd cowboy see the 1st cowboys horse just prancing down the road and grabs the reigns then heads over to see what the hell is going on and make sure he is okay.

While I'm watching this unfold I notice all of the cows the 2nd cowboy had herded are now standing in the middle of the road around a blind U turn. My hayseed instinct kicked in and I figured I better get around the turn and warn oncoming traffic.

I deftly navigate the field of cows without spooking them.

When I got around the corner I just stopped and waited for some oncoming traffic to show up and flashed my lights, they pulled up along side and I warned them about the cattle on the road around the corner.

Job done I went on my way.

I don't think they were trying to herd the cows up the incline but cows are dumb as crap and kept climbing higher with 3 herding dogs nipping at their heels.

The cow off all by itself was the dumbass who slid down the mountain and just laid there. When it got up the dogs were trying to herd it again and it got itself trapped on a cliff. I don't know how it turned out since I went to go warn oncoming traffic.

If a cow gets on its back even slightly wedged against something it’ll just die. I think they suffocate. They are absolutely helpless.
