I'm still confused as to why people think Sherron is one of the greatest KU players of all time. GMAFB.

They don't anymore now that he is gone.

I said if he won a championship, he'd be the greatest KU player of all time. He failed.

I thought it was pretty pathetic he was on a video chat with fans the night before the game. I don't think he was focused at all.

It was really hard for me to like this team. It was nothing like the 2008 team and seeing how Collins has blown off his teammates and coaches after this season, he's ruined his reputation (at least with me). I know the majority of KU fans will still love him but what he's done the last month has been really disappointing.

How would he have been the greatest KU player of all-time had they won the championship? You do realize a bench player can win 2 national championships? Collins was a great player, but he only averaged 15 ppg his senior season, which didn't even put him in the top 10 for scoring in the Big 12. I just think it's laughable to say he might be the greatest KU player of all time.

What's funny about your entire post is that it was his behavior after the season that ruined his reputation.

It's not like his behavior for the last four years wasn't enough to do that already.

Which brings us back to the original point that KU, more than most other fan bases, will deify you while you're winning, but then start saying stuff like this after you fail and/or leave.

Folks thought Todd Reesing was a great kid/player, and they turned a blind eye to his blatant partying while they won, but when things started going South, it became a 'problem', and the most beloved KU football player since John Riggins was being told by his own fans that he needed to be benched in favor of a vastly inferior backup (Pick).

That's the humor, sir.  Collins' behavior was always disappointing.  Whether it was (or wasn't) dry humping women in an elevator, being Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) enough to miss your own court date, showing up out-of-shape every single season, or being a part of the scrum with the football team, and whatever else I can't think of off of the top of my head, it just cracks me up to hear KU fans talking about their sudden disappointment in an otherwise stand up kid.  GMAFB.

Not sure what Todd Reesing has to do with this...

And as far as Collins goes, blowing off your teammates and fans is in a different category than allegations made against him.

Leaving his personal life out of it, being a bad teammate when you're "done" playing at a university is that I was referring to.

And yeah, bench players can win two national championships. But Collins would have won a championship as a starter and one as the 6th man. Collins wasn't "just some bench player" in the 2008 National Championship..

Not to mention, he'd be the first player in Kansas history to play an active role in two national championship seasons.

The best way to measure a player is if he wins. I'm sure KSU fans will consider Jacob Pullen one of the program's best players if you guys win 28-30 games next season...even if you don't reach the Final Four. If Pullen doesn't lead in the top 10 in points per game, he's not a good player?

Seriously?  That 2008 team was loaded with criminals, kids who didn't go to class, didn't qualify, only went to ku because their dad got a job there and left as soon as they could.  At least Collins stayed in Lawrence rather than flee the second he even had a sniff of a better opportunity.

I know ku fans are very sad about the embarassment against UNI but Collins won far more games for ku than he lost.  Don't take it out on the kid that he just wants to get the heck out of Lawrence.  That is awfully common amongst minorities who end up there.

Let me address these individually...

Reesing - Precedent has been set, many times, Reesing being the latest example, of KU fans turning on 'heroes'.  It shows their two-faced nature.  It's just funny that this has happened in two sports in less than a year.

Collins - Allegations of being a bad teammate are in a different category?  What categories are we talking about here?  You're saying his behavior has been a disappointment since the season ended, and I'm saying that to everyone not wearing a nerdy blue t-shirt the past four years, he's been an embarrassment for nearly four years.  Bad teammates show up to camp, year after year, out of shape.  Bad teammates get into altercations on campus with members of other teams.  Bad teammates set bad examples for younger players by not knowing how to read a fracking calendar.

Look, I'm not trying to insult you, but your article reeked of typical Jayhawk hypocrisy.  I don't blame you personally; it's just the nature of your fan base.  But let's not qualify Collins being a bad teammate based on not attending some pointless awards ceremony or 'being there' when a couple of underclassmen bolt for the NBA.  He's got his own s--t to worry about considering that he's probably going to be playing in the NBDL next year while those other two guys are wearing an NBA jersey.  Let's base your disappointment of him being a bad teammate on the fact that he's generally a bad teammate and has been for a really long time.

All of the Harrah's-affiliated casinos are running some ridiculous all-you-can-eat-at-all-our-buffets-all-day deal for like $30 right now.

ku fans think Collins is dangerous on a fast break, but pity the individual that stands between Collins and an all-you-can-eat buffet refill.

Collins' issue is that his head was up his ass, and then lost to UNI. Same with Cole. They both thought all they had to do was show up to the game and they would magically win. Man were they wrong, and this is why it's so funny.

Agreed.  UNI was a crappy team who had a pretty crappy game.

Little OT but still Collins related...

My fiance's ex-husband owns The Sports Dome on Mass in Lawrence.  His father was over to see the grandkids and told us how Sherron was in the store buying up a bunch of hats.  Sherron asked for a marker and proceeds to scrawl on the wall "Best place in Lawrence to buy hats - Sherron Collins."

Knowing how the KU faithful have "turned" on Sherron, I nearly choked when he said, "That'll be a good bit of advertising for the store."

Think so huh?   :gocho:

Pretty sure the ex will have it removed within the week.

So does your fiance's ex-husband's dad come over to your place and big time you all the time with his exploits?  This whole situation seems weird.

LOL, yeah after I read that it does sound odd...  It was a birthday party for his grand-daughter so they were all over here.

I am the odd man out at these gatherings, being the K-State grad living in Lawrence and all.  So yeah, anything he can say about KU to me, he will.   :cyclist:

I'll get the last laugh though...  I have his grandson saying EMAW!!! :ksu:

Pretty sure the guy who stuck your wife first and got you to agree to take on his seed as your responsibility has the last laugh.  I appreciate your spirit though, but no one marries a woman with a kid, or who has been married before.

Figure its like a used car... sure there's a few miles on her but your not screwed out of that huge depreciation when you drive a new one off the lot.  And with aftermarket parts the way they are now you can fix her up just like you want her.   :driving:

This thread has taken a fantastic turn.

When I have an illegitimate kid someday, you can raise him and teach him to say whatever the shazbot! you want.  When I come over for the birthday parties, go ahead and have a 6-pack of something imported ready to go.  TIA.

Except for the corpse in the trunk.

But seriously, why is ku fan so obsessed about what Sherron is doing?  They shoudl have stopped caring the moment an awful UNI team dumped them in the second round.
