I would donate thousands of dollars and renew my season tickets +2 more if we fired oscar and hired Brad this off-season, but it isn't happening, but i do believe Brad will get a shot one day at the HC job, and he will have success.

It won't happen because of the payoff amount, and we have too many people with enough clout who are of the "Give Wooly one more year" mold.

I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and Weber has a pretty good overall record, but it's quite apparent he's not P5 conference coaching material.

If it doesn't happen now, as has been said, it will probably be too late.

Bob worked in K-State basketball's favor the first time around! :D

I think Brad will be available in 2-3 years. Whenever we need him.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

In 2 or 3 years we'll need a Huggins like hire.

Yup. The collapse of K-State hoops is going to come hard and fast

Wut? It is basketball not football. Get a couple players and go. Look at how fast Lon and Hoi turn around their programs.

You could argue those were "Huggins-like" hires in many respects.

Lon is very Huggins like (less so, Lon didn't need OU, Huggins needed another shot) but the Hoi hire would be very analogous to snagging Brad.

Hoiberg is much closer to Gottlieb than Underwood.

The main thing about Hoiberg is he had potential beyond your typical white guy hire.

Hoiberg is nothing like a guy who has been a college assistant coach, juco head coach and now low major head coach for two decades.  That's basically the opposite of what he was.

the Gottlieb:Hoiberg comparison is pretty good. Hoiberg never coached a game of basketball in his life before he took over at ISU.

Our next coach will inherit an awful roster to try and compete at this level.  Underwood is going to be set up for failure

It's pretty much impossible to set someone up for failure in college basketball. It's a sport where good coaching and team chemistry can pretty much always get you to the postseason, no matter what the talent level is on your team. Then it only takes one recruiting class to completely reshape your roster. If you fail at your job in college basketball then it means you're just not a very good coach.

The first half of that seems ridic to me.

I didn't say the tourney, I said the postseason. I'm thoroughly convinced that if Bill Self had a team full of Brian Rohleders that he could at least make the CBI with that collection of "talent".

I agree with the notion that if Underwood is a good coach, he should be able to get this roster to the NIT at minimum.

Was Underwood set up with a crack squad at SFA?

Using one of the top 3 or 4 coaches in the country as an example is not a valid example.  I mean, you can't say that Bill Self could do it, then say if someone can't, they just aren't a good coach.  That is ridiculous.

If Brad Underwood was our coach day one this season he would 100% take this roster to the NCAAs

I look at Mizzou hoops and fear I'm looking into a crystal ball of the future of KSU hoops.

Actually its v similar to the ghost of KSU hoops present when I think about it. Dang it this season sucks.

college basketball isn't Hoosiers. you can't coach up a bunch of nonathletic dorks to middling success. the single most important factor in winning games is having good players. it's so far out in front of all other factors that is essentially makes them meaningless. all of a coach's most important duties revolve around that talent. acquiring it, keeping it happy, keeping it out of trouble, keeping it motivated, etc. Xs and Os are the most overrated part of basketball coaching.
