I thought it was a little lower than that, but it's a good rule regardless. Lots of missclassified workers on salary are making less than min wage when you compare hours worked.
Also 80 hrs at 11.30 is near 59k

I'm gonna need to see some non-mocat math here. Even minimum wage @ 80hrs/week is ~$30k. Who in their right mind takes a salary job for less than that and then works 80+ hours a week?
$47,000 is $22.60 per hour at 40 hrs/week

About 66 hours at 30k and you match min wage. Those people should be protected The bigger issue though is companies gaming the system and missclassifiying exempt workers. Basically add "manager" to someone's title and they are exempt even though they don't manage a thing

So, some poor sap working just as many hours making "$48,000 per year" will actually make less than someone making "$47,000 per year." Disgusting.
