Why in the eff would he have a sense of humor about any of this, he just got aired out publicly by his university president and the conference for kidding around with a rival school? He was utilizing a sense of humor and people like Bowlsby and Schulz made him look like a fool publicly, how the hell is that funny?

you're right, "sense of humor" was the wrong choice of words. "self awareness" may have been more appropriate. He screwed up and seems to blame social media more than anything. And GMAFB with the "we're unsafe at KU now" martyr bullshit

KU pulled the same "unsafe" BS after Chickenwingate.

I imagine next year Currie will have all the band sign pledges that explicitly states they won't take the form of a dick and shove it into the mouth of a Jayhawk.

i don't know the humans involved but i do kind of feel bad for tracz or however you spell his name. by all accounts, the guys has worked his ass of for kstate (his employer) for twenty years and he's done a really good job. he wins some kind of national awards. people that know him all seem to like him. i hope his bosses pulled him aside and were like "hey we know this is bullshit, but this is what we're going to do".

This would've been fine.  I even worked in the usual sign-off to these things.

As many of you are aware, this past Saturday's halftime performance by the K-State Marching Band has been the subject of much consternation across social and traditional media.  The "issue" relates to the conclusion of the band's Star Trek-themed performance, in which they humorously depicted a starship battling a "space monster," represented by Kansas University's mascot.

Unfortunately, some have determined that the depiction instead represented an inappropriate act.  To those who viewed the performance in that light, we regret what you saw.  Upon reflection, any ambiguity certainly could have been prevented by simply not attempting to utilize that mascot as a representation of a monster, and going forward, the Band will not utilize other schools' mascots to represent monsters or other antagonists in their performances.

Assuming the Enterprise had been executed perfectly (which based on the layout released, it was close), the shape + the direction and movement of it definitely could  been interpreted as a penis being inserted into a Jayhawk mouth. I'm guessing he has veto power for things like this, but I could be wrong. If he does, missing that was a goof on Tracz's part. I won't even go as far as saying it was a "mistake", it's just a head-slapping goof where you say "doh! oh man I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THAT" and have a laugh and move on and cash your gofundme check.
