So Bob Lutz had this column today and I think it is a good topicand I'm interested to know how others see this. What do you think are Snyder's 10 most gut wrenching losses.
http://www.kansas.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/lutz-blog/article3788299.html
Lutz puts the TCU loss on there, that wouldn't even make my top 25. Here's my top 10.

10. Tie between 2010 Nebraska & 2009 Louisiana Lafayette
9. 2004 Fresno State
8. 2013 NDSU
7. 2003 Marshall
6. 2000 home game against OU
5. 2004 Iowa State
4. 1996 Nebraska
3. 1996 BYU
2. 2012 Baylor
1. I mean, duh

Everyone please share & discuss, it's a bye week

I'll take a shot, first to mind

10A. Oregon 2012 Fiesta Bowl, 10B. tOSU 2004 Fiesta Bowl
9. BYU 1996 Cotton Bowl
8. Marshall 2003
7. Fresno State 2004
6. Texas 2003
5. Colorado 2001
4. KU 2004. I witnessed the carnage in person. Sickening
3. OU 2000 at home.
2. When Baylor kicked our ass two years ago.
1.

This might not be an accurate representation of how I feel just the first ones that come to mind. Most are post 2000, which is when I've been to the most games in person.

I cried when we lost to BYU. I was like 13 or something. Shameful crap.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

2012 Baylor (I didn't follow college sports pre-2000)

Everything after halftime was rinsed from my memory. Apparently I ended up face down in my friend's backyard. Woke up on the floor of his basement.

Losing @KU in '04 is definitely in my top 10.

Maybe I'm being a bit revisionist but I feel like there was a strong possibility the streak would end that night. I do remember the rough ridin' game wasn't televised and I had to listen to the radio & I can't get that emotional huddled around a radio like it was 1938.

I was at that game in 04..... heard lots of "Same old Wildcats" chants on the way back to the vehicle (which made entirely no sense to me but I guess they had to chant something).

Texas A&M in 2000 bummed me out. Didn't really hurt us in the grand scheme that season but that loss sort of came out of nowhere.

a) How does Bob not remember that Ell played the entire game against OSU?

b) I'd use tiers of meaning for the games with less hurt as you go down the tiers.

Losing twice (12 BU, 98 aTm) on the cusp of a NC appearance. 98 will always be the worst b/c we also lost a conference title.

Losing the other Big 12 title game. (00 OU)

Losing huge regular season games when you know your team is a legit contender. (00 OU, 02 UT and CU, 03 UT and OSU)

Losing to lower level teams (Fresno, Marshall, NDSU).

Loses that make you realize your team is good, but not THAT good. (96 NU, 97 NU, 99 NU, 11 OU, 14 TCU)

Big bowl losses (96 BYU, 03 tOSU, 11 Ark, 12 Oregon)

Other notables IMHO. (93 ISU, 95 CU, 01 OU and CU, 04 and 06 KU, 10 NU, 11 OSU, 13 OSU and BU)

Man, I've been a fan for too long. Instead of 10 gut wrenchers I listed 30. I didn't realize I went that far.  :sdeek:

I will say I'm glad that my life as a Cat football fan has that many losses that meant something because that only means there have been lots of wins that meant something too. Lots of great memories and great moments and you remember those more (and they mean more) after you experience some tough ones.

That sucked.

Being embarrassed by Oregon in the Fiesta.  After being embarrassed by Baylor.

2003 Marshall and then the Texas loss and then the OKie Lite loss... all by a touchdown or less.

98 A&M.

Ohio State Fiesta.  Ell Roberson is still innocent.

Not sure I'd put '03 Marshall in my top 10 just because ultimately it had no bearing on the outcome of the season.  Losing to OSU and UT pretty much set the ceiling at Fiesta Bowl that year.

BYU was the first time I attended a bowl game.  I don't think that the game itself really meant a whole lot but since it was my first time seeing them lose a kick-in-the-nutser in a post season game, i guess it kinda stuck with me.  Young _hubs innocence was lost that day. :bawl:
