I've always felt the reason why Fox News is at the top is a) They cater to the right, so those who have right leaning sympathies always have a home to watch their views (usually) pan out and with the rest of the media usually left skewed, the other media outlets divide their viewers over more, while Fox doesn't have to and b) other people want to watch the craziness that is Fox News. Sort of like watching NASCAR, you don't actually care who wins but you know there will be crashes and you watch to see them happen (the stuff that creates the fodder on the Daily Show, Colbert Report et al). Wouldn't necessarily disagree that they want to be extra critical towards the current administration would allow for them to dig up stuff on Obama, but the roles of defending rather than attacking the administration were reversed only 6 years ago. So just because they are willing to ask the tough questions and investigate Obama to the hilt, all that was laughably lacking just a few years ago. Can't imagine why. FWIW, I hate pretty much 24 hour news outlets so chest pounding that you are #1 when it comes to network news reporting is like being the top student in remedial English. The whole lot of them are just a mess.
